Hey everyone, I had my ES die at a gig last week and my rectifier isn't glowing(also, it powers up and no sound comes out). That seems to be the problem. My issue is that I just replaced a rectifier in this amp a year ago. What rectifier(s) do you use and/or recommend?
By the way, the one I used was a Groove Tubes that replaced an identical tube.

www.kcanostubes.comThe old saying "they just dont make em like they used to" applies to rectifier tubes...visit the link above and get one of the NOS 5AR4/GZ34's and most likely, you'll be set for the life of the amp. A Weber Copper Cap would be another alternative that would never fail but might not sound "exactly" like a good rec tube...definitely good to have as a backup/spare as it isnt fragile like a glass tube.

Well, I replaced the rectifier with a JJ and still, no sound. It doesn't appear that the rectifier is glowing. I made sure it was plugged in securely, also. Does anyone have any ideas?

Have you checked your fuses, I think I had a similar problem and it turned out to be a blown fuse. I could be totally wrong but its worth a try

Hey guys, It was a loose cap- cheap, quick fix. But I do like the JJ that I put in place of the Groove Tube. It made the tone a little tighter- very nice.
