I just picked up a Rockbox Boiling Point the other day. This seems to be the hot new pedal and none of the boutique stores can hold on to them. At first I didn't care for it until I really sat down with it.
It has a three setting toggle (symmetrical clipping, asymmetrical clipping and a boost) and also has a bass boost toggle. The two clipping sounds are pretty cool and with the 11 position gain switch you can really get any sound you want out of it. It seems to do country, rock, blues and even metal tones. Definitely very versatile and the EZG seems to love it.
But this is where it shines. In the boost mode it just pushes the EZG into heaven. I run it in the boost mode with the gain on about position 5 or 6 and it just drives the tubes as if I had the amp cranked and it does this at bedroom volumes. I really sounds like when the amp is pushed. What an amazing boost and that is not why people are buying it. This just seems to eliminate any need for an attenuator. Just roll back the volume knob on the guitar to clean up the sound. Then just switch off the pedal and you have your crystal clean EZG sounds again.
I only use teles and strats and they both sound great with this pedal. I will sometimes use the bass boost switch with the tele in the bridge position to get a fuller sound but I haven't found a bad setting yet.
The pedal is expensive but worth it. It is definitely a match for my EZG50.
