Okay, I thinking out loud here. What if I built a 2x10 and 2x12 in a quad cab separating the 10's from the 12's with two inputs? Then use my TTE to split the signal between my Route 66 and the SRZ-65. I'm thinking two different cabs would be easier to handle and get separation for stereo.

Basically it would nail Andy's rig of two marshalls and a echoplex. (and a few other toys) Now for the Classic rock gig, just give me Curt's new rig!!!!! Curt, you were right, I'm wiggin'. That is a great lookin' cab. I was about to comment that no one was talkin' about a quad for the SRZ. I would think at 16ohms and greenies it wouldn't be any louder than a stock Z best which will also sound awesome with a SRZ too. Man, who needs Viagra, this thread is serious porn!

Curt, What speakers are in there now? Pre Rola Greenbacks 25 watters? No sir, empty box But WAY affordable and dripping Mojo ;D I have the 2 16 ohm greenies out of that blond Z cab, I'll grab 2 more and be good...but I am thinking 2 G12H's instead might work nice as well, kinda like a double Z Best LOL Glad ya dig it, I knew YOU would. If'n ya wern't around the friggin' world I'd hook you up with it Brother, you'd do it right, it's basically furniture for me

Ha! Well If I'm ever in Texas!! What ya mean, furniture? Grab your tele plug the SRZ into that quad and Skinnard your arse off! "whoa turn it up" G12h's would sound awesome I bet, the new Celestion G12M heritage greenies 20 watts would probably tame the volume a little compared to the 12H's if you were worried about that. Still trying to get a tour happening in the states next year.
Dock66, you're not helping either. TTE's between a Rt 66 and SRZ is just about my all time orgasmatron set up ;D Although I'd have to hit the road 'cause there aint a venue down here that would cope!

Hey Taz, I think your right on the money in wanting a SRZ with your rig in my humble. Your 66' covers all the old classic stuff and your original quirky tunes but if you want something to take you back to the mid-eighties and rock out to anything that came out of the pointy guitar era and then some, then your there with the SRZ. I can't see a better dual amp setup. My old JCM 800 had that nice keeerrrang/crunch about it, but I can't see it having the touch sensativity and sweet sustain of the SRZ. I think the SRZ could even do a really cool Santana as well. I have even heard of people praising it cleans tones. I know it's a bit more dollars, but have you considered a 65/45? That amp coupled with your 66 would cover 4 decades of rock and there you have a rig for your USA tour mate. ;D I'm just drooling here........so forgive me, but why not the 65/45? Sorry about the Ghia mate, I do need the money for the taxman right now, but I'd rather hock my old 64 Beetle than sell my Ghia. It just has to be the ultimate home studio, not annoy the neighbours too much amp and is perfect for my strat. In fact, I'm actually thinking of selling my Les Paul and getting a Z-28 and a Emi,Red,White and Blues................ah but thats another story. Good luck with the Ghia mate, tha one of Peach's looks gorgeous in green. Keep on pickin' groovergeorge

Oh don't worry Groover, the 6545 is the amp I've been totally gassing on before the Limited Edition was offered. The 6545 would work perfect for most of the stuff I'm doing. The Police band I could set the 45 ultra clean and the 65 side a little crunchy for the early rockier/punky stuff ie: Truth Hits Everybody. I kinda think I NEED a Ghia for all the small club covers I'm doing at the moment but I really WANT a 6545, but then the LE comes out and it's like, OH MAN, GOTTA HAVE THAT! The other problem down here in Hobart as compared to Melbourne is that there as just no amp techs and it would be handy to have a workhorse amp that didn't need biasing and easily available tubes. I really need 4 Z amps. (never say never but I can't see this happening) My 66, the SRZ 65LE, (or 6545) Stangray, Ghia. Those 4 would cover anything I ever need. Something to dream of and work towards I guess. I have kept my open back 1-12 G-12m70 cab just in case!

Mate I can see you doing numbers like "So Lonely" and "Message in a Bottle" with the 45' side and one of those old Roland chorus boxes all day long. A bit of Germanium fuzz and a a EH small stone and your on your way to Kurt Cobain, Nirvana. Stomp on the channel switcher and go to the other side, hit your fulltone fulldrive 2 with compcut on and your doing all that new millenium, Nickleback type new age whatever they call it for all those first year uni types up in Launceston. What a winner of an amp, if you can play loud this amp has to be the best amps made for rock in the last 10 years............PERIOD!!!! Peace groovergeorge

LOL, Nah, He had a VERY clean '68 Plexi but it was NOT FOR SALE !!! I traded a 66 for a Vibrolux and talked him into throwin' in the empty cab..... I'll tell you what, I'm really thinking I'll sell the JR now that Doc is planning to offer 1x12 RXES and Stingray combo's loaded with the Celestion Gold.

Curt, love the lyric in your sig.! I haven't heard that song in aeons. I hope they come early, because I ordered from Make'n Music in Chicago and I live in CT so it would have to be shipped out to me. Oh well...as long as it gets here before 2008 I'll be happy!

Curt, love the lyric in your sig.! I haven't heard that song in aeons. Thanks, Man. When I was growin' up for me it Was Skynyrd #1, ZZ Top #2 and that's all that mattered, I had tickets for the Houston show in '77 scheduled just day's after the Plane crash, had to wait 10 years to see them. I love to spank out "Things goin' on" in a real spanky country tone on my Tele and a Z ;D Ronnie's lyrics were right on and he addressed many Political issues of the day.

I definitely hear similar tones from my Zion/45 rig to the strat on "Sweet Home Alabama"
I've seen Skynyrd 3 years in a row (well, what's left of them), all during finals week! Killer players, never bad tone.
Just curious, are any SRZ's actually going to make it to the public?? lol

I think Myles put Carl V for one LTD SRZ65 on his list a while back.

I think Myles put Carl V for one LTD SRZ65 on his list a while back. Carl has had one for a while. It replaced his core rock side of his rig, his Marshall plexi. But ... another one is on order. Carl has another on order that will live in Europe as he tours there extensively and has a Europe voltage rig that stays there. If you go here .... www.groovetubes.com/assets/1769_gt_verheyen_large.jpg .... you can see the ad campaign that has been running in a number of guitar mags such as Guitar Player and Vintage Guitar. I like where it talks about his favorite amps and says something like Fender, Marshall, Vox, and Dr. Z. I also love how the red in the photo just looks too cool with the other amps shown. The amp in the artist spotlight is Carl's. If it looks different than the one in the lame little video I have up in places that is because the amp in that shot is mine and has creme knobs so it looks a touch different than Carl's with the black knobs. The video was when Carl and I were A/B'ing his Plexi 1987 with the SRZ-65 through the same 4x12 cab when Carl was looking for a replacement for his Marhalls which were getting to be too valuable to tour with. Now, even in the studio when he is in the states the SRZ-65 is his weapon of choice for those classic hard rock tones.
