The amp was just too early at it's time and folks did not get what it was at the time. I am doing what I can to bring the amp back as it is the amp I want to use in myltiple units to replace Carl Verheyen's Marshalls that are getting too tired for me to keep up and running for his heavy tour schedules of his own band. If Supertramp goes back out which there is talk about, if I have to try to keep those Plexi Marshalls running I am in deep water. The SRZ-65 may be my only salvation. It's a simple matter of .... "when you need a classic Marshall but don't want to pay for one or insure an existing one or trash a vintage one .... just grab an SRZ-65".

Myles! Cut out the chicks! I'm having trouble thinking about amps!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (I'm kidding) As if it isn't cool enough that Myles has an apparent boundless will to share his vast knowledge and pro experience with all of us, he also posts pics of hot women on the forum for us to look at while we're reading about the best amps on the planet. It doesn't get much better than that.

what would we do w/out Myles...
nick - the SRZ uses 3 12AX7's & 2 EL 34's. Also has a GZ34 rectifier tube. Some folks have replaced this w/ a solid state recto but I like the slight sag of the GZ34.

Nick, You are 110% correct on the tubes and from my point of view, your take on rectifiers. The GZ 34 really does not sag much but it does swell after a hard chord like a great compressor.

Oh yeah, I prefer the GZ34 in my 6545 (do I get to play on this forum since I've got the 65-side, mostly?)

hmm, red, chicago...have I ever seen that amp on stage, with Frank Bang's Secret Stash? nope, that wasn't me with Frank Bang. My Zs haven't seen much stage time in Chicago. I was playing out a lot two and three years ago, but that was before I became a Z disciple.

HEY GUYS, i'M NEW TO THE FORUM. I JUST GOT AN SRZ65RC COMBO FROM A GUY AT MY LOCAL MUSIC STORE. ANY OF YOU OUT THERE HAVE THIS COMBO? IF SO, WHAT SPEAKERS ARE IN IT. MINE HAS GREEN BACKS, IM CONSIDERING PUTTING IT ON MY 2 12 BOTTOM FOR MORE BOTTOM END PUNCH. ARE THEIR ANY ISSUES WITH CHANGING THE SPEAKERS IN THE COMBO'S? I DON'T WANT TO RUIN THE ORIGINAL VIBE OR VALUE OF THE AMP, I JUST WANT A TIGHTER BOTTOM END SOUND FOR CHORDS. I HOPE I'M USING THIS FORUM CORRECTLY. ANY WAY THANKS! -------CHILI CAT

Greenbacks are very cool but a V-30/H30 setup could be nice too, or many other choices that you have out there.
