Appears to be gone at this time. They don't stay around long.
Was it a newer model or an older one ??

I changed the thread to reflect an SRZ-65 which (I hope) is currently available.
hopefully I'll inspire some GAS and we can welcome another SRZ-65 owner to the fold.

maction... You need to change the title of this post to "There WAS a used SRZ-65 at Fatsound" I've been wanting one of these amps for a long, long time & now I have one. GAS hit me like a ton of bricks this morning when I read this thread! Now I have to call Z to have the amp sent in for a good once over.

I'm glad it went to someone on the forum. it feels weird to enable someone else's GAS on this forum, rather than the other way around.

Ah, you changed the title! Seriously though, I owned a 6545 for a while & just sold it off because I didn't have a use for a channel switcher. After a bit of searching I realized that what I really wanted was a great one channel amp like the 65 side of the 6545. I was very close to buying another 6545 just so I could have the 65 side. So this was perfect timing for me. Now I have the Z amp that I have always wanted for my higher gain tones. I just love one channel amps and the SRZ-65 is the jewel of my amp collection. Thanks for posting it maction. I really appreciate it. I gave you some karma for the tip. Thanks again.

Here is a photo of the SRZ-65 from the Fatsound website. I'll have the amp in my possession on Thursday (they sent it overnight) I can't wait!!! I'm going to send it off to Z for a good once over & a complete re-tube/bias job.

SRZ-65 has arrived & it's in perfect condition visually. The serial # starts with an "M" so that makes it a 2002 model year. I can't wait to get home & play it. Then it's off to Z for a re-tube & some TLC. Now I'll be able to compare the SRZ-65 to the 65 side of my old 6545. From what I've heard the SRZ-65 has more gain on tap and a better overall "dirty" tone. Either way I'm extremely excited that I was able to get the SRZ-65. Maybe I'll leave work early today...

So now that I own an SRZ-65 can someone please show me what the secret handshake is? there's no secret handshake, but you can expect other Z owners to have "presence knob envy." thanks for the good karma, back at ya.

Got a chance to play the SRZ-65 this afternoon. Considering the following things...
1) Crappy no-name preamp tubes 2) Crappy Mesa Boogie rectifier 3) No idea when the amp was last biased 4) No idea how old the power tubes are
The amp sounded great. Compared to my 6545 the SRZ-65 has a bit more gain on tap. I also think it sounds a bit more raw. I noticed the lows were a bit tighter to my ears. The mids were smooth and the highs were smooth as well. Tomorrow I'm sending it off to Z for some TLC, a good once over and a complete re-tube & bias.

I am not sure but I think.....
The 6545 has an ultra linear output transformer.
The KT-45 does not
The SRZ-65 may not.
This may be a bit of difference in the 65 side of the 6545 vs the SRZ-65.
Maybe the doc will jump in an correct me or one of the owners if you guys know about the output transformer.

From the Dr. Z Interview in Tonequest Report back in 2000:
"What was the model amp that you built for Joe?
It was an SRZ 65, which was a 65W, EL34-based amp with gain and master volume. It was the only amp that I ever built with a cascaded gain circuit. The SRZ evolved into a reverb combo that was reviewed in Guitar Player back in 1993-94. It had some Marshall characteristics to it, with an ultralinear output transformer. "

From the DRs website on the 6545.
"Each hand-wired, point-to-point pre-amp has it's own set of non-interacting controls; adjusting one channel's settings does not affect the other. The power section uses modified power transformers to a pair of EL-34 power tubes, and operates in an ultralinear Class A/B mode. "

oops... well, I dunno I just don't think the doc intended for his amps that he made for big name players to show up on ebay... I know he was surpised when I bought mine from Flynn's. Apparently it was made for Joe for his Anthology tour - they didn't make that a selling point though. I found out after I asked the doc about the serial #. Anyway, they're amps not autographed pictures.

I am sorry that some of you are upset that I am selling it but sometimes a collection gets to big to manage. I would rather some one got it that played it more and enjoyed the rich sound plus unbelievable looks!!!

if I may, I've always thought one of the coolest things about Z as a business man, is that he makes everyone pay for his products.
so, to me anyway, if Joe Walsh or Brad Paisley wants to sell a Z, it's the same as one of us on the forum. they're selling something that they paid for, not something they got for free.
from the Dr Z's Tonequest interview in 2000:
"I don’t know how many phone calls I get a day asking me about my endorsement program. I tell them it’s pretty simple—you endorse a check to me and I build you an amp. That’s my endorsement policy. I found out a long time ago that when you give something to someone it really doesn’t mean a lot. It’s the investment in time and money that creates something of value to people, and when you give it away, more often than not it just ends up collecting dust. If it’s not getting used, what’s the point? Hey, I’m kind of an underground cat anyway, and I like it like that."

Johnny, were you at Huettenbar or Brauhaus in Lincoln Square (in Chicago)? they're right down the street from me! no need to apologize. even if we differ in opinion, we'll always have the presence knob in common

Thanks for the consideration!!!!!!
Believe me it is not easy to choose which of your babies you gotta let go and which stay.....
Hopefully I'll always have a Z handy and if I know me I'll regret the day I sold this one....
Anyway thanks for giving a newbie a break and believe me I do love my “Z’s” especially this one.

So now that I have my SRZ I want to get smaller knobs for it. The knobs bump into each other sometimes. The amp has white piping and the current knobs are cream colored. Should I get the smaller knobs in white, cream or black? Here is what the amp looks like now.
