Played the SRZ-65 today through a Z-best cab. I had first auditioned the Monza- wow, this amp rules too and will be on my short list of studio amps- then moved on to the SRZ.
Quick summary of my findings: the SRZ-65 is unbelievable. It has all the glorious medium to high gain tones that associate with hot-rodded Marshall and Bogner amps. There are oodles of harmonic overtones and the touch responsiveness of the SRZ is so much fun.
I love the bell like cleans I can pull out of the EZG-50 and the chimey rhythm tones I can get with the EL 84 amps (MAZ/Stangray) but for heavy rock and roll, metal and solos I think the SRZ-65 is the main event.
I have been debating for several months on the Remedy vs. KT-45 vs SRZ-65 and I think the SRZ has won. Not that all three of those aren't great but I already have a Germino that can cover alot of the Remedy tones, a Hiwatt that should be similar to the KT-45, but I don't have any JCM800 amp that could touch the SRZ...
Whew! Can't wait, now I have to get an Air Brake!

Awesome I thought you already bought the SRZ? What are you waiting for? No Offense? But The Mazerati GT will collect Dust when you get an SRZ!! Its that usable, It makes a great partner with any Z EL84 Amp too! Take the PLUNGE!! LOL

LOL no, unfortunately. i really dont need to spend the money, at least on a new one right now. if a used one pops up in my area... i'd get it quick. but i dont think there are many, if any, SRZ's in my area period. i really need an JCM800-style amp. i likes them alot. maybe if i decide to sell my RXES combo, i will use that money to get a new SRZ.

I don't know if there could be a better rock/metal amp. To me the SRZ does everything that the great rock/metal amps of the past can do, but with more refined character, more harmonic information at extreme settings and with almost no bad sounds to be found.
Like a 100 watt Orange from the 70's, the SRZ has beautiful dynamics and like a hot rod 80's Marshall the SRZ has insane crunch. The only thing that it doesn't do as well as some amps is loud, clear, clean sounds. But it kind of does that to with a tele and the guitar volume knob rolled back...so man, this thing is going to be mine!!!

I've always thought it would be the SRZ automatically (and it still may be , but the Reinhardt Storm has popped on my radar as well now Keith

I Love a 2 Ch Amp However The only one I know of in this form Is The TONE CAT from BAD CAT! It uses a dual power section EL84 CH1 &EL34 CH2 or You can Blend Both at the Same Time! WOW what a great amp it would be!, EF 86 Pre amp and 12AX7 too. it wouldnt come cheap but I would sell off My Ray to get one, The SRZ will never Leave Its to Valuable to me anyway! And it sounds alot different than the New Ones too.

I believe the Bad Cat Tone Cat does allow you to blend channels, but only the preamps- not the power amps. You might double check me though, but I am pretty sure that is true...

Yes that is true! I didnt mean to mislead that preamp sections were seperate, However the Powere sectionxs are and you can blend them as well, ROCK ON MAN! I see you have an 100 Watt Plexi RI? The SRZ will give a run for its money when it comes to using and going distance, I would like to some day have the 1987 50 Watt version Plexi. Keep us posted!

Recording with a borrowed SRZ-65 right now...Oh, man. Wow.
This amp is so good! So much gain, so much tone, so much low end thump- AND SO LOUD! I think when I buy this thing (it is pretty much a for sure thing now) I am going to need to use an attenuator when volume is an issue at smaller venues or late night.
I think I am still gonna need a Monza though too...
