Anyone got any thoughts on the noise from the reverb spring in my used EZG? Is it just a matter of swapping out the tube?
Kind of sounds as if it is loose and vibrating in there, just a little noisy and audible from the amp not the speaker...Looking for ideas, here.

hmmm sometimes combos create that extra lil push due to the speaker being in such open proximity to the tubes,... So to clarify is it coming from one of the springs in the reverb tank or does it sound like a microphonic or loose tube?

Well, not sure, I guess. I will have to eplore further. Sounds reverbery, how should I trouble shoot? I got rid of most that grill flapping noise from the speaker grill cloth by removing the back of the speaker(convertable). So the vibrations are getting worked out. But this amp is used and I haven't fully understoof the exact condition. Could be tube related.
Your EZG head doesn't have a reverby sort of sound vibration coming from it, right?

nope quiet as can be..... I havent had this issue with any Z amps before , but with others if a spring was loose or something was loose in the verb tank I could here it with the amp off when I moved it around. Not much to a reverb tank, just springs connections some wires and the tank, so should be obvious if something is loose. With both reverb knobs down does the noise disappear completely? If its tube related it could be the actual tube, the tube socket or possibly even something else around it. BE careful poking around in there though, those trannys can pack a punch or ya can cause a worse problem by knocking something else loose withut even knowing it. Sounds like a simple fix. Try to give the amp a lil shaking when its off , cool and unplugged, If is something mechanically loose like a spring or screw you should hear it, If you dont, the next easiest thing is to replace the tube, which might not be a bad Idea since the amp is used to get a whole new set that is up to specs. Keep us posted. Good Luck. Im sure its nothing major ,..the Doc makes his amps really solid.

Yeah, I'll play with that a bit, today. It's definitely something simple I am sure
Probably should re tube the whole thing. Any rec's on tubes and supplies? Just stick with the spec's we see on the website? Biasing? I have actually thought about shipping it to the Doc for a check-up, Might be prudent.

If you can spare the time and cash for the tune up that would be the ultimate decision. If you just want to retube then ask the guys in the tube section ( I havent had to retube mine yet so Im not sure). They should get ya squared away in that department.

no problem ,..weve got to keep these EZG's in tip top shape,..theyre destined to be the "coveted vintage ampr from the 2000's" in about 50 years.....let me know what tubes you go with as I may just be wanting to change mine out soon.
