There's an original rx 2x12 on e-bay that I'm thinking about pickin up but I want to use it for my country tele tones, not fender twin clean but clean with a little hair, ala Paisley,if I change a couple preamp tubes with 5751's and replace speakers with something that doesn't breakup easily can this work?

Yeah. That's what I would do. I would go with higher wattage speakers to keep a nice snappy tight bottom end. I play 80% country in my band. I'm finding that I'm trying to somewhat convert my RX/ES 112 combo into a Fender sounding amp. As weird as that sounds. I should probably maybe look at a Z-28.

I havent played an original RX but I'd think it could do a good country clean w/hair sound...I've been playing an RxES for the last few months and it does fine for country.
