Hey everybody, great to be a member here, I joined this forum specifically to get some info on this amp. The RX Jr. looks like a really sweet little amp but I'm wondering about the wattage. I see it referred to as a 15 watt amp but the Dr. Z website says its half the power of its big brother. If I'm reading this right the RX Es is 45 watts so the Jr would have a bit more than 15 watts right? Sorry if this has been covered before, I did look through most of the other post, but didn't see anything. Thanks for any info, I look forward to getting one of these bad boys and really mixing it up around here! ;D

It's really rated at 15 watts. I guess he said it is half the ES because it has the same front end, but two el84s instead of 4. However, the rectifier is different (the jr uses a 5Y3) and the transformer probably is too (but I'm not sure about that). Are you worried that it isn't enough or too much power? I can say that the way I use it, it is more than enough for any gig I've used it on. The master volume is great, though, so the tone is still there for a wide range.

Thanks for the reply and great info! I was actually hoping it was 15 watts, as I dont play out that often and when I do its only in small venues, jams, and the occasional amp shoot-out. 15 watts is just about right for me these days! Thanks again!

The RXJr is LOUD for 15 watts. I've played out w/ it at small to med (small/medium) venues, and I haven't had it much past 1:00 on the MV. I've had sound guys tell me to turn down (or maybe I just play terrible ). They are always surprised when I tell them it's only a 15 watt head. As Kruzty said above, this thing has a great MV. Of the three Zs I own that have a MV, this one is the best. It will allow you to get the Tone you need at whatever volume you need it. It truly is a superb little amp.

Its 15 watts, but that's 15 Dr. Z watts Running through a 2x12" open back it easily hangs with amps twice that power rating. Agreed that this amp has the best master volume I've ever heard. Virtually no change in tone from zero to wide open. Of course, it's a lot more fun wide open ;D
