Today I will be stopping in to the nearest Z dealer to me and playing a new KT-45. This could be bad news for my wallet...
I will give some feedback on my thoughts on the KT-45 (this is the first one I have played) when I get back, either way.
By the way- anyone using a reverb pedal or Z-verb with this amp?

Well I played it through a Dr. Z Z Best 2x12. It is awesome. Loud even at 9:00, and gloriously clean until about 1:00 with single coils on a Tom Anderson tele. I loved it. I don't know if it has more headroom than the EZG-50, I will have to do some side by side comparisons in a few weeks, but for now the KT-45 is just going to be on my wish list.
I think my favorite part of it was the solid state rectifier- fast response to picking!

Yes, use a Z-Verb with it. Covers my Blackface Reverb type amp needs easily with more articulation and nicer bottom end. IMHO. The overdrive this amp produces is near perfect for a Guitar-Cord-Amp configuration. I do recommend an Air Brake. Even though, I prefer the KT-45 without an attenuator, I rarely get to use it without one. Make sure you hook it up in the store with an Air Brake so you'll have a chance to hear the gain. Max the treble and bass and volume anywhere after 12 noon.

No verb through mine, but I do brake it. 4 clicks at practice and 1 or 2 at gigs. And I think Steve the Lizard Leg might have made the Draconis especially for the KT. You can pull that gain out of her with just the stomp of your foot.

I have narrowed it down, I think. I am looking closely at the KT-45 (with an Airbreak), the MAZ 38 (with an AB) and the Remedy (with an AB). I think between these three, I will have to go with the one that allows me the most flexibility for gigs. I will be doing some more listening tests in-store in the next week or so. Hope to have something figured out soon...

There's a nice, used KT in the BST section. Muahahaha, all mine now :-D I love this amp. Where were these cleans all my life? Beyond that it eats pedals for breakfast. I'm going to have to look into a Draconis per Shannon's comment too. I've always wondered about one as it is, and now I hear it designed specifically for the amp.......

Put your OD pedals in the loop on the Draconis, that way you have one boost before and one after the OD's. Gotta be magical with the KT!

Put your OD pedals in the loop on the Draconis, that way you have one boost before and one after the OD's. Gotta be magical with the KT! That's exactly what I was planning on. I've been thinking about the Draconis as well as the Keeley DD-3. This ability to loop things in, while it's been popular for awhile now, is just lately piquing my interest. In any case, the KT-45 is awesome. I couldn't be happier with its versatility. I feel like a better player than I am when I play through it.
