I've never got to play the Delta, but it has always occupied my thoughts. the elusive Z i guess. anyways, i wonder if there is a reason that the Doc hasn't started making them again.

There never was that big of a demand for such a powerful amp. I loved it, the KT 88's sound sooooo sweet and rock hard. But I had a great player Micheal Burks touring extensively using two Delta 88's, and received very little interest.

IIRC, Myles said the Ironman was using SRZ-65s now. I was wondering if that generated any more interest, being about two thirds of the monster 88's power.

Z thanks for the reply Doc! thats what i feared, i would have rather heard that there was some parts scarce to the design. there would have been a better chance of it coming back then (if a supply was found). i'm into instrumental/doom/stoner metal, among a variety of other rock genres, and loud amps are the usual choice for that kind of music (such as the old Sunn amps). I was hoping the Delta might fit that bill for me. i guess i will have to continue to hope to find one used.

I have a Delta 88 (number 4 I think) and I get questions/comments/interest everytime I gig with it, from musicians and non musicians alike. I love the punch and clarity I get with this amp, nothing else compares. I've tried plenty of Z amps, but the Delta is by far my favorite... I'd buy another in a heartbeat if I could find one that matches my current one... There's a photo of my rig in this post: drzamplifiers.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=delta&action=display&thread=14324

I love my Delta 88 especially with a TS808 My Delta digs the BB+. I tried pairing it up w/ my SRZ this evening. It sounded fantastic. I hooked them up through an A-B-Y box to hear them separately and together. They really compliment each-other. The SRZ has a lot of the higher end that the Delta lacks. And the Delta has that huge tight bottom. The volume issue I had pairing up the SRZ w/ the GT was nonexistent w/ the Delta and SRZ. I really liked the pairing.

I think a lot of guys might have been scared off based on the wattage rating and Marshall Major comparisons...but I gotta say the Delta sounds thick and great at lower volumes too.

Hey Shannon,
I don't know if you noticed, but I took your Delta 88 home with me! ;D
And you're right ... this thing sounds GREAT! I'll trade you for that strat I saw in the tweed case.
