So I played a friend's EZG-50 this past week... I've played all his Z amps, which include a MAZ-18, SRZ-65, and a Sting Ray as well, but each time I played them I thought, "That sounds good, but I'd need some time with it to find the sound in my head..."
For whatever reason, this time we sat down and I was able to play through them all in one sitting, and the EZG was the tone I feel like I've been searching for. It's funny, because my friend said it was his least favorite, but it's my favorite of all four.
So, I currently run an American Standard Strat into a Fender Blues Jr, and I've mainly been focusing on finding good pedals to get some good sounds out of a decent cheap amp. I've currently got a Paul Cochrane TIM for leads and a Catalinbread Dirty Little Secret for low gain Marshall crunch. I've read about how the DLS reacts with several different amps, and it seems to work best with certain Blackface Fenders, with the exception of the Deluxe Reverb RI. Most people seem to say that it is because of the speaker being crammed into a small cabinet, but I still wonder if the DLS will have the same crunchy goodness through other Blackface-type circuits, such as the EZG...
So, does anyone have an EZG-50 and a DLS? I'd love to hear what you think about that combo. It may be a few months before I can get my pedalboard in the same room with my friends EZG...

I don't have a DLS anymore (didn't like it with my Vox), but I recently bought an EZG and it takes every pedal I've thrown at it very well. I can't get enough of my Timmy through it. It sounds amazing with my Screw Driver too.
best amp ever.

Sorry, I don't have the DLS, but I will say that the EZG takes most of the gain/distortion pedals I have well (Boss BD-2, Barge Concepts BP-2, Fulltone OCD, Xotic AC). I did notice that my Octave Fuzz (a Pedalworx Octabooty) doesn't sound nearly as good on the EZG as it does on my 100 watt Marshall. You will like the EZG though it sounds like!

I have the Remedy and the DLS sounds killer with it but heck the Remedy sounds killer on its own!

Well first, welcome to the forum. and you and I are on the same page bro... I'm loving my EZG and I think Matt loves HIS stingray... No experience with the DLS pedal... but everything I've tried so far sounds good with the EZG. Keeley modded 808 Tube screamer, Landgraff DO and Boost, Exotic BB, Luxury drive boost and the Flying dragon... takes em all as good as the Maz 18 does which has been my go to amp. If the DLS is supposed to sound good with a blackface style amp then it should with the EZG too. Your TIM ought to sound good with it too. The more I play the EZG the more I'm liking it...

EZG=pedal friendly......tone is subjective , what one mans ears like anothers may not, but for the most part everything has a place within reason....ive tossed a number of fuzz boxes through my EVAN the past few days,...some require a lil more tweaking but all in all the amp reacts well to them all and with a turn of a Knob the EZG will adjust for the pedal.... just my .02
