Was wondering if the Remedy at half power setting would be too much for a Celestion Blue?
Has anyone tried this combo?

It probably depends on how much you push the amp. Single coils might be a little easier on the blue.
If you're playing heavy metal with humbuckers and overdrive pedals set on full...probably not.

Yeah, I'm not sure I'd chance it myself. I have the Golds for the Remedy...

Gold is a safer route.

I played my Remedy thru my Dr. Z convertable loaded with a Celestion Blue. I ONLY played it on half power.
It sounded a bit mushy.........It was pretty good, however. But, I felt that it was really overpowering the speaker, and I was concerned that I'd ruin an expensive speaker.
So, I went with another Dr. Z 1x12 with the Gold.
Remedy loves Gold.

Should be ok tho, a lot of the great old vintage amps, especially combos ran right up to and over the speakers rating when dimed out ( which is where everyone runs them at ), and most often they've lasted for years. Maybe just dont dime the Remedy on 1/2 power for insurance.
The greater question may be does the amp sound good with that much speaker saturation? Most of the older amps didn't have quite as much gain availible so ya had to crank'em up and some of that "speaker on the ragged edge", WAS part of the sound. I don't think the remedy needs that, or maybe just not as much?

Well, after reading all of these posts, I pulled the trigger and purchased a Remedy a few weeks ago. It is plugged into my Port City 2x12 cab which is loaded with two Blues. With the amp set at half power, the tone coming from the amp / cab is nothing short of amazing. I have burned more than a few hours using 3 different guitars and this is what I have found so far:
American Telecaster with a SD '59 in it. Sounds freaking amazing with this combo and really nails that classic crunch. Roll the volume back and you have great cleans to match. This is by far my favorite choice and is extremely versatile.
Japanese Telecaster with custom shop No Caster pickups. Although the tone is somewhat more mellow, there is still plenty of grit in it when you dig in. Doesn't really have the balls that the SD' 59 produces, but still delivers some great overdriven and articulate tones.
My third "Telecaster" is a Charvel Style 2 (dual hums, volume knob only) and sounds pretty good with this combo, however when the volume is cranked, the tone tends to get over saturated and can get out of hand quick. While this combo is playable, the Remedy sounds better with the two Teles listed above.
To date, I have put several hours on the speakers and they appear to be holding up just fine. I did try the full power setting for a while and although the speakers sounded like they could handle it, I don't really have a need to blow the drywall off my walls so the half power setting works great for me.
My next project will be to split the 2x12 and run one blue to my Ghia and the other blue to the Remedy and run both amps using an A-B-Y pedal. I figure I can use the Ghia for the cleaner tones and let the Remedy do it's thing. Should be interesting!

Ran the Remedy through a Blue tonight for the first time and...holy cow...that's some serious TONE!!! It seemed to bring out a lot of character in the amp versus a G12-65 or a V30. Plus, that early breakup was so sweet.
I really don't like a Blue pushed too hard (flabby), so I may need to look for a Gold. Man that was fun!!

Shorty I'd be curious if you've tried the Blue and your 2 x 10 with the remedy? I want this amp bad but I need to be careful about going overboard-Mostly a solo in-home player these days. Naturally the wife things I am cover ok with the RXJR and the AC15H . Probably I am technically

I had never thought about trying that combination, but you made me curious so I just did. The Remedy through the Blue is great...the Remedy through the 2x10's is great....the Remedy through the Blue and 2x10's......AMAZING!!!!!
I still need to try a Gold, but so far I feel the Remedy needs 2 speakers to get that magic. Wow, I'm so glad you asked that question.

Playing in the house I don't see ever cranking this am full-power.

Both half and full power, but yes, half power is plenty loud enough for home use. You've gotta have a well built house to crank it at full power. To me, at half power, the Remedy seems quieter than the MAZ Jr or Ghia with the volumes at similar positions.

I am just wondering because I read on one of the threads or posts that a 2x10 cab with 1x12 Cblue only afforded the blue with a 30watt rating. Even though the 2 X 10 can handle it alone. I think it was in the Remedy section. Just can't refind it.

I don't like the Remedy through a Celestion Blue. Sounds trebly/harsh. I've tried mine with 13 different speakers. The Eminence Private Jack was one of the best of the bunch. Haven't tried it with a Greenback, though...
