Hope you dig it as much as the rest of us.

Congrats! Rich!! You will not be disappointed I will assure you. I don't know what you plan to play with it but? It doesn't matter cause The SRZ can cover alot of ground!!!! I use mine for Crushing Rock Tones, and have been spoiled using 4x12 cabs but, it would sound awesome played through an AM radio!!!!!! Make sure you allow the tubes to warm up a good while and allow the V 30 time to adjust! Break is everything. Let us know when she arrives!

Congrats on the new amp. I bought my SRZ LE in June. It is my favorite amp that I've ever owned. I mostly run mine through Doc's 2x10's and it just sounds amazing to me. Which number are you getting?

I think it's #30. I don't remember... I'll let you guys know tomorrow. I play mostly Rock/Alt Rock/Classic Rock/Punk-ish stuff. Occasionally, we'll pull out an older metal tune (Maiden, Priest, Sabbath, etc.). If this thing is a Hand-wired, PTP reinterpretation of a JCM 800 2204, I'm sure it'll be just what I'm looking for. It's going to be a long day at work tomorrow...

Yes its a darn close Copy but it's so much better than a Marshall. I dont mean any disrepect To JM. I have used several Models, I sold one of the first 97' model DSL100's to get my SRZ and I didnt even play through one. At that time they were just testing the 6545. MY SRZ has been a work horse and then some. It loves pedals! Its so Transpearent but fully saturated. You'll be right at home for the stuff mentioned above!! You might want to consider a 4x12 or 2x12 closed back you'll never go back! LOL!! Its that good with the SRZ! Look at my Post from 10-24 or 10-25 entitled PICS

Just got in from work (4:00), and nothing yet... I expected to see one of those sticky notes on the door saying they missed me, and I'll need to set up a pick-up time. They deliver until 7:00, so there's still hope! I have a closed back Marshall 1936 w/ Weber Greenbacks, two Z 1X12 Convertibles w/ V30's, and a Z 2X10 Convertible in transit. I'd love to hear it through a quad, but I'm shying away from the size and bulk. Thanks Woody! I thought it was #30. I couldn't remember for sure, and Captainmorgan had the post deleted. I can't wait til it gets here! ;D

She showed-up about 4:45. It took me fifteen minutes or so to get'er unpacked, looked over, and plugged in. I've owned three Marshalls and two Mesas prior to my love affair w/ Z's. Jim and Randall ain't got nuthin' on the Good Doctor! This thing smokes! I only had time to run it through a Vin 30 equipped Z 1X12 Convertible, and it sounded great through that cab. I can't wait to hear it through the Weber Greenbacks. It is very loud... I think much more so then my GT. I could only get the Master Vol up to noon-ish and I had to back off. The string to string clarity is amazing, even with the Gain dimed. It cleans up much better then the GT w/ rolling the guitar's Vol off. Someone wrote that this thing does a great 80's Metal (Ratt, Dokken, etc.). I agree. W/ the Gain dimed, Warren DeMartini riffs started spilling out of me. Backing off the Gain gave great Zep and early Rush tones. Having the Master Vol set around noon, and the Gain around 9-10 o'clock, I was able to get very very nice cleans. Again, better then the GT. Of the other Z's I have, I think only my MAZ Jr through AlNiCo Blue Pups gets better cleans. I only had about an hour as the wife started squawking about the noise interfering w/ the kids' homework. I think she needs to rethink her priorities... on second thought, maybe that's not such a good idea... ;D There'll be lots to experiment w/ on this beast!

Rich It will only get better man! My SRZ is The best amp I have ever owned! No matter what The situation calls for, once you know its full potential you can go almost anywhere! It cleans well, however I was setting my Drive way back, volume way up , But I was not allowing the amp to run. Like trying to hold a Dragster back from running 310MPH!! So I broke down and Bought a Stangray! For Cleans! Check out The Gallery Page #2 I'm gonna post a video soon, I'll let ya know when it s up! Until then! ROCK ON WITH THE SRZ!!!!

I'm new to this great site......been reading it for over a year and just wanted to chime in on some topics....I'm a HUGE fan of the SRZ ...It is my go to amp for gigs...We play mostly hard rock....covers and originals....Our drummer is one of the hardest hitters.. and the SRZ cuts through so musical and clear it's sick.....IMHO...the SRZ is the best !!!!!

Hey Niner, Welcome to the Forum. This is a great place to swap stories, get help and advice. I'm glad to hear you are an SRZ user! I do the Hard Rock Cover thing myself! We cover everything from Zeppelin, Journey, Boston, Rush, Kiss, etc...The SRZ covers it all. I have had mine for a long while now 7 years to be exact! Its my #1 go to! It doesn't do the Pristine cleans if you need that. But it does alot! I dont know if the pic made it but check out my Cabs! It's huge !

nice pic's...I dig your back line!!! Looks cool and I bet It sounds great...I use a Hughes & Kettner 4X12 with V30's...sounds huge.....but I'm sure not as huge as your full stack.....I bet some of the small club owners and or sound man's eyes get real big when you roll those bad boys in.....when we rehearse I use my 1x12 open back w/ a gold....not as much lows, but sweet upper and lower mids......and when I turn it up...GREAT controlled feedback.....I love the SRZ's dynamics...play softer over most of the songs....and really dig in for the "in your face" parts.......It's like having secret boost pedal !!!!.....My playing has changed so much in a good way after I got the SRZ.....

let see if this is the right picture, I'm a newbie too!!! That's soooooo Rock-N-Roll!!!! Les Paul... foot up on the monitor... FULL STACK backin' you up! ;D Hey niner! Welcome to the Forum! So you use a Gold w/ your SRZ? I was really thinking about picking one up to put in one of my Convertible Cabs. Does it hold up pretty well to OD/Distortion from the SRZ? My experience w/ AlNiCo speaks hasn't been all that good for heavier distorted tones. I'd like to hear more about the SRZ and Gold paired-up...

The Gold holds up great to OD/distortion..I run the SRZ dirty and I have a keely baked mod TS9 which is on most of the time.....The Gold compresses quite a bit....but in a good way...It's in a Avatar vintage partial open back cab. I bought it for my Ghia head.....but I like it with the SRZ better for some reason....real easy to get the amp in the "sweet spot" it's very harmonically rich.....not as tight or as much chunk as the V30 closed back 4x12... the Gold has good attack and those mids are to die for....Great lead tone..!!!!!!..I have the mids and pres. turned down on the amp...more of a hard rock than heavy metal tone. I think it is a great speaker.....and sounds great with all my heads.....I think It's worth checking out....hope that helps...

The Top 4x12 was just for show that night, The only one i use is the bottom cab which I use the top, V30's open and the bottom EVM's closed! It huge!!!! Massive bottom but it has nice clarity as well, EV's really are AWESOME! They give you exactly what the amp and guitar sound like, no coloration! It a match made in heaven with the SRZ!!!!!

Did the Wife run you off, due to kids homework interference? Or you still jamming the new SRZ!!!!!!! Haven't touched it since the other night. I've been swamped w/ work from my new job the last couple of days. And our singer is out of town on a cruise to some island (no rehearsals this week). This is the first I've been logged on to the Forum in a couple of days too. I'm planning a big finish to the week though. I'm planning on trying out all may cabs w/ the SRZ to see which one I like best. I'll keep yinz guys posted... ;D

I'm thinking of coupling a couple of Golds with my EV's or my V 30's in on of my 4x12 cabs . after what Niner said about the golds. I have to do one thing at a time though, I'm saving for a Gold and a Blue Dog Weber for my RED 2x12 cab which I use my Super Reverb and Stangray with, however some gigs call for the SRZ and I want to use it as well with that cab, It got Blues in it now, They not strong enough to be ppushed? Well, they may be? But I dont want to burn them up to find out , ptu it that way!! LOL!!! Hope to hear your results soon!! Rock on!

The wife and kids went out his evening. ;D I got the opportunity to mess w/ some of my cabs w/ the SRZ sooner then I thought. I used my Fender Strat, Charvel So-Cal, and Guild Bluesbird through the SRZ into all my different cabs. I focused mainly on distorted tones. In my opinion, the clear winner was the Marshall 1936 2X12 loaded w/ Weber C1225 & C1230 Greenback type speakers. It sounded amazing. It was warm w/ an early break-up, but still very articulate. To me, it sounded significantly better then all my other cabs. This kind of disappoints me. I was really wanting to move to my new Z Convertible Cabs, but the SRZ really sounds amazing through those two Webers. A distant second goes to the Z 1X12 Convertible w/ a V30 (yes, it was well broken-in by Tracii Guns on his last tour ). I like the sound of this cab and amp combination, but I like the 2X12 w/ Webers much better. Third goes to 2X10 Weber AlNiCo Silver 10s in a Mesa 4X10 open-back cab. They surprised me as I haven't liked the AlNiCo speakers for my heavier distorted tones. Fourth is the Z Convertible 2X10. This may not end up being where she sits, as I don't believe the speakers are broken-in yet. They seemed real bright. I had a hard time trying to dial out that brightness. Last is the Weber AlNiCo Blue Pups in the Mesa 4X10 open-back. I don't like those speakers at all for raunchy distorted tones. They just don't hold up on the low end. They sound fantastic for clean sounds, but not for the dirt. They may end up on the chopping block. I wasn't wild about them paired up w/ the Silver 10's either. On an interesting side note, I really like my MAZ Jr NR through that 4X10.

I totally understand the Alnicos not holding up on the bottom! Benttop Swears by the Golds! He says you get the Clarity and Compression but the bottom tightness as well! I have been using the Greenbacks in My 2x12 Semi Open Z cab! Man I love those speakers with every amp I own!! They Are just Regular G12M's 25 watters! But man they sound huge! I may couple the G12H which is a 30 watter Ceramic with a Gold? I have ordered the Gold just haven't made mind up on what goes next to! You should try the SRZ with a 4x12!!! There's no turning back then!! LOL! Glad to hear you finally got to do some testing!!!
