Ok fellas I have way too many amps but this one has me salivating! besides a Carmen Ghia that I let get away, dang that was a mistake. I have a Maz 18 NR and it is my go to amp. My buddy had a Jr with reverb and I thought it lost some of it's mojo. I like at times to have reverb and trem for the band I'm in. With that in mind I also use a Carr Imperial a discontinued model that really is sweet but big and cumbersome and a Victoria Regal II both fine amps to be sure. If any of you with a Jaz are famillar with those two I would appreciate your input.

What I can say without knowing about the Carr and Regal at all, the JAZ is a great all around amp with the big bottle tones. This reverb is better than any one knob reverb I've experienced and the tremolo is the best trem I've personally played or heard. It really does bring the bayou... but you can turn it off too.
Z has the bases all covered in this amp. It's the MAZ front end tone stack on a Remedy.... sort of. The JAZ seems to give me more and slightly cleaner headroom than the Remedy. Half power comes in really handy and with a brakelite. I can do the Allmans stuff a lower volumes without compromising the sustain, and also get into scorching Marshall-ish rock tones. You can get into some twang and Vox-ish chime with a Tele easily and it gets you into the Fender realm for the SRV or Jazz... I'm still getting used to it and trying it with different speaker cabs when I have the chance. Looking back on Z-Fest and hearing this demo'd by BW, and hearing the different speakers, the 2x10 combo sounded better to many of us there. The Reverb and Tremolo is outstanding... absatively and posolutely the best in my opinion.
I have the head, but I probably should have gotten a combo, for the portability aspects, but I have so many cabinets I went with a head. It sounds great with every cabinet I've used it with. Once you have the JAZ in your line-up the other amps will get jealous.

I am not familiar the Carr and Regal - just all my Zs and few 60s Fenders that I have owned. First as a combo - this is not a lightweight amp. Of course I have a Brakelite in it and an bunch of other stuff I tuck in my StudioSlips cover to add to the weight. Great amp - the tremolo is better than any pedal or my '64 Tremolux. The crunch and sweetness of the 6V6s is great - mainly have it set on 1/2 power for clubs and only full power for the outdoor/big stage gigs. It has been my go to amp over the last 3 months! Just been playing guitar, cord, and amp with this baby and running up the preamp volume for those songs I want a little more gain!

Once you have the JAZ in your line-up the other amps will get jealous. Do I need this amp? No. Do I want this amp? YES!!!! I love my Mazjr w/r and my Z28, but I'd be tempted to trade both for a JAZ20/40 if the opportunity arouse. As of now, my Z28 is my fav amp, adding some verb from a pedal when I want it is ez and sounds great. When I get a decent tremolo pedal I might loose all the GAS I currently have for the JAZ 20/40 though. No doubt it's a killer amp, but life just isn't giving me the opportunity to get one right now.

Thanks for the responses so far I appreciate the input, but I really want to know if the sound leans more towards the sparkle and spank of a Maz 18 Jr NR versus the reverb model. I have to say I am/was a reverb guy till hearing the Jr NR next to standard Jr. If anyone is familar with the Carr and Victoria that would be icing on the cake. Bluzman I agree with you about the 2x10 which is what my Maz 18 Jr is and I love it's sound. I have tried the amp with some of my other cabs THD 2x12, pine Cab with Weber vintage 15 alnico, pine cab with tone tubby alnico and it sounds good with all but the best in it's doc's 2x10 combo cab. In fact it sounds so good my buddy just got a Z 2x10 from Fat Sound to use with his Jr and some his other amps. Tonight I will taste that cab to see what it brings to the party when used in it's closed back config.

I sold a Cornford MK50 MKII head as I was cursed with hearing the Jaz. So, bought a Jaz head and 2x10 cab and it's the best thing that I've done for a long while. Easily one of the best amps that I've ever heard. If you do buy one, you know it'll be your buddy for life.

I'll second that about the Suhr I have Suhr pro 1 that for me I like the sound of way more than a Tom Anderson drop top I had. The Anderson played great but the pickups just did not cut it and the Suhr plays as nice sounds better and cost less, although it is not as pretty.
