Well.......sold a boogie Maverick 4 x 10 and a vibroking........and now am a proud member of the "Z" army. I played for about 6 hrs straight through my new R66/z best 2x 12 cab........all I can say is unbelivable!!!!! Always how I wanted to sound..............just like all the great tones I have coveted for 20 yrs now.........who are the knuckleheads on harmony central who say this amp does not have enough headroom? ?? I am gettin every tone I ever wanted with this thing........anyone driven the "route" with a fulltone Dist pro or a fulltone OCD? I have........and its pretty fricken amazing!!!!! Very tight and flawless distortion.................Thanks Dr. Z.......Your creation has re-fueled my creative juices...... I finally feel like I have a REAL amp!..........cannot wait to take "her" to my next gig...............

Anyone who says the 66 doesn't have enough headroom is a moron!!!!!!!!!!! Enjoy it. It's one of tthe best amps on the planet IMO I just sold my Route 66 and can't wait to get another.

The distortion pro is way fat and strong, as usual, only magnified by the 66

Any ideas on the best way to add some "ambience" to the amp........for instance, I kind of miss the reverb when I want to get "bluesy".....................like a "lenny" sounding tone...... Maybe a Tube Reverb Unit? Maybe a Digital Delay? I even fantasized about buying a Maz junior head w/reverb to get that reverb/bluesy tone..............but I would prefer to not have to spend $on another amp...........right now.

My suggestion would be a nice analog delay for some ambience. I've never tried a Holy Grail verb but anything I stick in front of the 66 works great so I'm sure that would work as well.

the EH holy grail works very very well with the 66...with some amps it can add some bightness, but the 66 balances it out. It also helps to NOT power it with something like a 'powerall' or 'one spot' adapter, but too use the adapter it comes with (cant remember but I think it requires a lightly different voltage or current draw than Boss pedal adapters). If you use the right adapter - no added brightness and a real nice effect with the 66. The pedal can be a little noisy at higher volumes, but playing that loud its going to be drowned out by the band or the amp anyway...
