I have a 1X12 cab w/ Blue to use with my Mini, should sound great. I also have a V30 16ohm, would it be safe to use with the Mini, or is it a bad idea?

its fine to use it, as long as the ohmage is higher its fine, it just cant be lower.
it will have a different sound than how a 8 ohm version would sound with the Z though, the 16 ohm will sound darker? its hard for me to explain how it sounds different, it just does. some people like that though, i remember a few people on the forum do the mismatching thing

Very cool. I thought I had heard that it could be a higher impedance, just wanted to make sure. Thanks

first impression, loud. Has the Z EL84 sound for sure. The built in air brake is a nice feature. It's funny I have a Mazerati, a Ghia, and now the Mini, and they are in the ballpark of each other, yet there are some differences in their frequency and voice. I can see why one could have all three, different venue sizes would determine which I would take. Seems for me the mini Z will be getting played alot here at my house. I would love to get the Ghia out for some group activity, drummer etc.. I like the way the gain comes on, it's just got some bit to it at first, and it gets that ZZ Top attitude when cranked. The gain goes up smoothly as well, cleans up okay, Ghia cleans up better with guitar volume controls, but it can be effective. The #4 spot on the attunuator is a bit dark, but no different than the BL or AB. I'm diggin it, sounds great with the Blue, tried it with the V30, but was getting some hum in that location, cheap power strip, so I moved it over to my other cab. I noticed how the Mini, with some volume, doesn't do the Verb or delay like a clean amp, with or without OD. I knew that would be the case, but though I would try. That's why I have the Ghia, it's great for cleans, pedals, well everything. Time always tells, but my first impression is that I will be keeping the Mini Z, and the Ghia, might eventually try some other speaker for the Mini, but I'm in no hurry. Thanks for the amp Dustin, nice buy from a nice guy.

Well, I will say also that with the attuenuator on 4, there is some darkening, compression, and my P-90 sound buzzy, with it on 0, wow. It's a loud 5 watts, I might hook up the Brake Lite and see what #4 does at max volume. I don't know that I've cranked the Ghia with the #4 setting, for any length of time. This is to be expected, I've read plenty of posts discussing max attuenuation changing tone, creating a buzzing kind of distortion. I still think the Mini is way better than my Blackheart Little Giant, it's not a horrible amp, especially for $125.

yes I have the same issues on #4 ...distortion sounds buzzy. 0 is too loud for the house. Great little amp though. I wonder how she would fare out in a band situation. I'm gonna have to bring it along some day.

Mini is darker than the ghia. I adjusted my P-90's to sound great with the Ghia, the seem dark with the Mini, and when cranked it's as if they are too harsh. I adjust to sound better with the Mini, and they are too weak when I go back to the Ghia. I know to some extent Pup's are a personal thing, but a happy medium is not the "best" sound from either amp. Anybody else thing the Mini is a bit darker than other EL84 Z amps? Any suggestions on Pup settings, or do I just need to back off the volumem knob with the Mini? The Mini is too loud to be cranked at my house anyway, so I won't be diming it very often.

I always found it a little dark to my ears, no matter what I did to brighten it up. My Tele with a Voodoo bridge pup and the no load tone pot wide open still sounded darker than I would have expected.

I guess that it's just the voice of the Mini. I wonder if various preamp tubes would cange the tone very much, or if it's more a matter of the voice coil? I have a couple of other speakers I need to try as well, the Tonker has more of everything, compared to the V30. Although, both those speakers have higer wattage ratings, 60 and 150 respectivly. I've been using the BB pre to change up the EQ a bit, but I was hoping to be able to use the Mini by itself, to get away from OD pedals, it's still a loud little amp. I'm trying to sell a Mazerati, cause it's even louder, but it's not selling. If I'm stuck using OD pedals for grit at low volumes, I might resale the Mini head. I would still have a Ghia and a Mazerati, and OD pedals. I don't think I would have a problem selling the Mini, if that's the way I go, and don't take it personal in any way Dustin. I have to own an amp to explore it's tonal possibilities, at least I can resale for what I paid.
