My first video clip on Z-Talk! Here's a short clip of my cover band playing Straight On by Heart, a fairly new tune for us. It's (obviously) not the best video or audio quality but the audio is surprisingly good considering that this is just a video taken with a regular ol' digital camera. About midway through the clip the person taking the video moves in close to the stage and the audio really thins out, but it is what it is. And yes, I can hear that my G string is very slightly out of tune ;D - I hate outdoor gigs in the humidity! And I seem to be taking this song quite seriously, don't I? My Stang Ray was cooking pretty good because this was outside. It's running into a 2x12 with Celestion Golds, and I'm using just a bit of slapback delay from my Boss DD-20 to fatten things out a bit. This was a fun gig - it was on a lake that was only about 25 feet behind us. Lots of people come by boat. Cool vibe with the torches burning but when we were breaking down I saw that someone spilled torch oil on the power cord of my Ray .

Really appreciate the nice comments everyone, thank you (especially yours Doc, I'm honored!).
It's a fun little band. Cover bands are cover bands, but it gets me out and playing on the weekend, and thanks to Doc I'm able to sound good doing it! ;D
I'll post more one of these days.

Yeah! Nice tone and feel!
It's almost polar opposite to my Set Neck/Route 66 tone, which is why I want a Stangray so bad. Nice to have that variation.
I absolutely love Nancy Wilson's singing. She is something else. Tough song to cover vocally but your singer sounds great.
Really enjoyed that.

Well thanks everyone! Sometimes I wish I was doing something cooler than covers, but this band has taught me that it can be rewarding if the musicianship is there. I'm not crazy about every tune we play (although I do like the Heart stuff), but I approach it like a session player might and just try to play my best and do my part to make us sound good. Our singer really makes the difference though, she's really good and this video doesn't really show her best stuff.
Without her we'd just be three dudes playing the same stuff everyone around here is playing ;>)

Howdy,
Ignatius: Your lovely singer does an impressive job with the Heart style vocals; she could've fooled me on a recording! Now on to your tone with that Stangray.. The clear, glassy cleans are almost Fenderish. I thought you sounded fantastic. More posts, please!

Something magical happens when you play a tele through a Stangray. It's a match made in heaven!

I agree with everyone else! Great guitar tone and fantastic vocals going on. So nice to hear the Ray in live situations. Such a tremendous amp.

Holy smokes! Revival of an 8 year old thread! The Stang Ray (unfortunately), that version of the band (not really such a bad thing), and most of my hair (LOL) are all history . I miss the Stang Ray - what an amp that was, especially when you could get it cookin'. Funny how things turn out though. The singer and I are still doing acoustic duo/trio gigs, and we ended up in a relationship. That gig location was at a watering hole (no pun intended) on a local lake. Fast forward to today and someone has since bought it, renovated it extensively, and now it's a real hot spot. They built new docks and brought in someone to manage the marina and we keep our pontoon boat there. It's so different that I have to really think to imagine what it looked like back in 2009.

Haha. Yeah. Maddog called me a Zombie thread guy or something. Haha. Hey, a good thread is a good thread, regardless of time....same thing can be said about our Z amps! I loved hearing the update on the location and that you ended up in a relationship from that version of the band. That's sweet!
