I have a Rxes that sounds great, a lot better with single coils than double. I am looking to see what you favor for speakers and cabinet (Open or Close).
There is a wierd high end sizzle with the overdose engaged with humbuckers.
What tubes do you like also?

What I like about the RX-ES is how much the character of the amp changes with different speaker cabinets.
I've tried mine with a 2x10, 2x12, and 4x10.
My favorite tone was with the Avatar semi-open 2x12. The bottom end was so tight I couldn't believe it. Played clean with a telecaster, it sounded like a huge piano. The sound had a good deal of fatness to it, but it cuts very well too. I wish I could have tried it with a Z-Best.
Through a Z 4x10, it was a different type of tone. The tight bottom was still there, but it got a lot more chime, almost bell-like (with the same telecaster).
The 2x10 (the speakers in my Z28 combo), it was pretty bright and cutting, but would be a great country sound.
