I'm about to find out today when I pick mine up! ;D
I demo'd mine in-store using a Big Tex blackguard tele with Rio Grand pickups (I think he uses Tallboys). It was Twang-a-riffic. After five minutes - I put it on layaway.
Will hopefully be able to give more feedback after I play it tonight - but I'm very optimistic.

I seriously don't see the Gal' having trouble with any genre. It may be difficult, without any help, to cover metal but as far as rock, country, blues, jazz - it's gonna put a smile on your face.

It could be said that anyone trying to cover metal needs some help. Hey, I know I was not the only one thinking that.

I love my galaxie for what i call 'heavy country'. The tweed side is exactly that -not blackfaced fender but a warmer, gainier tone. The tweed blends seamlessly into the marshall side. I posted a clip to show how close the two channels can sound alike. www.soundclick.com/bands/pagemusic.cfm?bandID=730431
