It seems most of the posts I've read on the KT-45 talk about the amps tone with single coils. I'm more of a humbucker guy, and I was wondering if the KT-45 plays well with hummers. I'm thinking it could be a good amp for me, as I need to go from a clean/articulate tone like the intro to Take It Easy, to ZZ Top (using pedals).
My main amp now is a Remedy set clean, usually on full power. I've got to think the 45 falls right into that category. I just need to confirm it likes humbuckers!
Edited to add another question ***
I just read that the KT-45 volume goes from 0 to 100 immediately. Is that true? Can it be played at home/practice volumes without an attenuator?

Hey, This is my first post on here. . . Besides talking to some of the guys that I bought stuff from in the classifieds section. To answer your question, it sounds amazing with humbuckers. I have had the KT for about 8 months now and the main guitar I have been using with it is my LP Standard. I hated the Burstbucker Pro pickups that came stock in the guitar though. I replaced them with Dimarzio 36'th Anniversary PAF's. . . What a difference! The two main cabs I have ran the KT with have been an open back 212 with a ceramic silver bell and blue dog. I sold that to downsize. Now I run it through a Z convertable cab with an alnico blue dog. I love the way the alnico compresses. To me, it sounds amazing with the LP. I have done a lot of comparing with other guitars as well. I ran a G&L Legacy through it for a couple months and also a Tele. I keep going back to the LP though. I guess I just dig that thicker sound. To answer your question about the volume. I don't feel that it has that 0 to 100 effect. It all depends on how you're using the knobs though. The treble and bass are very evenly voiced, so I tend to keep them set very similiar. I do have an Airbrake but feel that I enjoy turning the amp down and playing it that way as well. I guess it all depends on what sound you're going for. If you want to get some grind from the amp, you'll definitely need an airbrake for the bedroom. If you're going to get your grit from pedals then the clean on the amp holds it's character very well at lower volumes. Hope this all helps. And thanks for letting me be part of such an amazing forum and group of people. . . Oh, and of course amps!

Thanks for the feedback. I got a similar response through email, and I'm looking forward to working a deal on a 45!

Just had to chime in... I use a les paul w/burstbucker II's, very low output and sink them pretty far into the body. Sounds great w/the KT, a little murky at lower volumes with my hotplate, but, once i turn her up and bring the treble to about 2 o'clock, it's perfect for that dirty rhythm tone. I've played a strat and Rickenbacker through it and loved the single coil sound through it, but, I can't get the Danelectro to jive just yet....it's kind of a wonky guitar in general though. Looks like P90's might be the perfect match....I'll report back after I have a shot at that -w

I've had just over two months with the KT, and I've got to tell you, this thing LOVES humbuckers. I play it at home constantly and it goes to practice every week. This might take the place of my Remedy. What a great amp. I forgot how much I like EL34's! Kinda makes me want to try an SRZ-65.

Glad you like it! I can't get over the clarity of the KT. Definitely an amazing sound with humbuckers.

The KT is one awesome amp. If you have a real hot humbucker it will break up at much lower volumes. And the KT sounds great at 1. Clean, clear, and so articulate.Thank goodness I only need it to break up alittle so I can keep the volume down, I have an SRZ to do the rest...
