The Maz Sr has a little more clean headroom and is very open...the RxES has more gain on tap, and has a nice compressed feel with the volume up.

I feel they are very close. I think the only way to be sure is to a/b them into matching speakers. I have a Maz 38. At first I wasn't sure if the Maz 38 had as much headroom as I wanted. Then I realized that I had been keeping the mid knob at about 9:00, which counterintuitively is actually not the best for clean headroom. I cranked it up to about 3:00 and bam, a lot more clean volume. Now I'm happy with the clean volume. I have tried a RXES, and into the low input and the overdose off, it has a lot of sweet clean headroom.
