Will the SRZ-65 get decent clean tones? (or headroom) I know it delivers in the overdrive/gain department.. I'm sick of running pedals in front of my amps for a little extra dirt.
Currently have a Showman, Bandmaster, KT-45 & Hiwatt 50.

in my opinion there is little to no cleans in the SRZ, especially compared to your amps listed.
Great amp tho, and it depends on what clean is to you.

If you turn your guitar down, you can get to some real nice clean tones, but I was never able to use it that way live. Records real nice though: Grosh Strat into SRZ-65

Try the Volume maxed and use the Gain knob for your amp volume. You will be surprised! Once you get it up past 10:00 to bring in the bottom you're running pretty LOUD but clean. Sorry Curt.
Also, I love my 45 for clean-articulate tones.

I run my Old SRZ semi pushed and push it for High Gain. I have the same problem. I'm currently looking to add another amp just because I cant get the clean sound I need. It's definitley not as clean as a Fender type amp. Remember There isn't "1" magical amp that does it all. ; ( There are some who claim they do... They can't come close to a Z though

Yeh, like you guys have said, it,s not exactly clean like a Fender but its damn nice, nonetheless. I have a buddy that swears by his blackface Fenders but he very rarely plays them guitar straight in and usually boost them with 2 boxes, go figure. Im a bit late here but thanks once again Steve.

Thanks. Yep, I miss having that amp around here, but I wasn't playing it much. It's in much better hands now.

It's got a little bit of hair and a lot of sting. I've never heard a JCM 800 sound as nice as that. That was a great clip Steve. I love your stuff. I've frequented your site to listen to your clips, and I don't remember that one either.

Man, I have the answer!!! I m sick of running my SRZ semi Pushed! Just to get a fairly clean sound! I just picked up a STANGRAY Head! OMG!!!! IF we could just get the doc to do another Channel swithcher!? It would be the Stangray EL 84 chA then the SRZ EL34 on B Yes it has already been done by a little company called BADCAT! You can also blend both A&B Channels . I know its expensive but, Im going this route for now, clean with the Ray, serious ripping Saturation with the SRZ!

Hmmmm, seems I've seen that setup somewhere before... That is Drew's THD cab now, but when I had it, I had two Golds in there, wired stereo so that each head has its own independent speaker - that's why there are two mics on it. These days I'm using a Radial Headbone so both heads can use the same speakers. Works great!

Thats exactly what I was gonna do with my Boogie cab. I have two vintage 30's on top and two EV EVM 12's on the bottom but it s a split baffle top/bottom. I'm gonna couple the one blue alnico with the ceramic 30 for the Stangray and open back for that airy sound and the SRZ with the Ev's closed for that huge bottom. I just love a 4x12 cab but the Blue loaded 2x12 I just got is not shabby by no means. So the headbone works great? I thought about that also but, Im gonna try the above mentioned cause I actually have two Identical cabs and a nice ABY pedal. Nice Looking rig. My SRZ is a 96' model with Reverb. The long style head. My Stangray is a Red Black 20thAnniversary head

I liked the independent speakers just fine, but I got tired of the sound guy rolling his eyes when I told him I needed two mics and two channels on the board - like he's running out or something. But it was as if he was saying, "Get over yourself." So I started using the Headbone so I could get by with one mic.
