I went down to my Z dealer, as they ordered me a Maz SR. and it had arrived. I was absolutely elated with the sound of this amp... so smooth, beautiful sounding reverb (to my ears) and very usable eq... anyway.....
They also had a black EZG.. I decided to try it out through a Z best cab...
I've never heard tone like this. The superb response I got from my pick attack was second to none! I couldn't stop playing. I turned it louder, and louder... it just got better and better. And reverb.... damn! It's kind of like a dream come true really... the Z best was spoken for sadly, awaiting a head. I decided to order the 210 convertible cab after reading so many positive reviews here. It's coming down from a different store, and will be 4-5 days I am told. So, now I have this beautiful head, but nothing to play it through... feels like a cruel joke! But soon.....
Thanks all here for your reviews... so helpful in making me try this out. I play a custom shop es 339 as my main guitar, and it sure came alive today!
Dr. Z, you are way too much.... Wonderful gear.

I'm on the verge of going with the EZG myself. I'm almost positive this is the amp for me, although I haven't even played through one. I'd like to hear your comparison on the 210 and Z-Best when you get the cab.

You are going to lose yo mind with either a Z-best or a 210 convertable. Either way the EZG rules! Congratulations! Paul

Thank you 6strang... I had the Z best placed horizontally, where apparently it gives great bass response due to the ports... I sure did! I thought that it sounded very focused, fat, very in your face, but so beautiful. I probably would have taken the cab too had it not been spoken for. (I made them call the guy, and ask if it was alright as I wanted to turn it up) But, portability being an issue, and remembering what others here have said, I ordered the 210. I can't really imagine being happier with the sound, but maybe the difference will be more to my liking, who knows. I played a 339 through it, as that is what I mainly use.... so so good.
I'll report back when I get the 210... can't wait!

Just to add-
I had the amp turned up really loud at one point, and there was not much sign of break-up. Even with humbuckers, I think a pedal is definitely in order.

Chickfrench, I saw that set-up online too... beautiful. I'm getting antsy for my cab to arrive to have the same in black. I almost feel silly with my excitement. All new to me... the sound just stays with you.

Westcoast...know what you mean. I've never bought an amp un-played before. Nearest dealer is around 300 miles...but I just can't imagine not loving this amp.
I don't do the pedal thing...just plug-n-play but the Kingsley Jester is quite impressive..this could possibly be the setup I've been waiting a lifetime for.

The cab came today... I left work early to pick it up and plug 'er in. This Z 210 has some serious punch to it... looks fantastic under the head as well. I have the back closed for now, but I think that it's definitely going to be 'open back'.
With tone this great, I can only imagine the 410... I'm more sonically happy than I've ever been. This is definitely the sound I've been hearing in my head. I feel sorry for my neighbors though..

Silly as it sounds...I am pretty happy with my 210 convertable. I like it semi open at home and for outdoor events closed back. I know that I would probably like the 410, but I am not GASing for it yet! The Z-best is great with the EZG too! I agree with you westcoast.

Next time you're down this way, I'll have to let you plug into my well broken-in 4 x 10! You will love it! I don't notice it being a huge volume increase, but rather a tonal difference compared to the 2 x10 convertible. Both are killer, just different! If at anytime you are leaning in the Super Reverb direction tonally, 4 x 10 is the ticket to tonal nirvana!

I found a real good solution - I bought a Z-28 4x10 combo and then used a Radial Headbone to run my EZG through the 4x10s. Didn't pay much more than the cost of the 4x10 cab and got a "free" z-28 in the process!
