Hello,
I'm looking for a small amp for practice, but it will be nice if i can do a small gig with it. Is the mini-Z can do the job for a small gig ?
Thank you

The answer to that question depends on your need for a clean sound as the mini doesn't really have much of that. It will clean up a bit if you're using single coils but with my humbuckers it doesn't really clean up much at all. I have used mine for several gigs that only needed dirt sounds and miked it. I've even played a packed room of 300+ with it and the soundman said it sounded awesome out front, but the whole songlist was rock songs with no need for a clean sound. I also use it in acoustic duo type applications. One guy playing acoustic, and the other playing leads on the mini. I've also used it for some solo gigs just to change the vibe from the acoustic.
So yes you can gig it, and it sounds GREAT miked, just remember its a 5 watt amp and an 8 inch speaker and don't expect to hear quad box thump! But is sounds mighty for what it is. Hope that helps...it's a fun little amp.

I gigged it once with two other guitarists on stage with much bigger amps and 4x12 cabs. I couldn't hear it on stage w/o a lot of moniter but the sound out front was plenty.

You can get away with the Mini if:
A) You're playing with a really polite trio (i.e. loooowww volume) B) You have no interest in a clean sound.
The moment someone other than you gets excited & starts playing harder/louder - you're done.
YMMV. :-)

Some people only like vocals in the monitor mix. If that is tha case with your band, you could run into trouble if you need to hear more of yourself. If you don't mind other things in the monitor (or use in-ears), then it shouldn't matter what size amp you use.

If you're playing a little coffee lounge/cafe you probably won't need to mike it but most rooms you will have to mike it. I didn't have any problem hearing it with the gigs I've played and I've played a rock gig with an aggressive drummer and 300+ people. In that situation it sounds quite "thin" on stage and it's probably quieter than you are used to, but with it coming out the front of house speakers you get a wide image that makes it easy to hear and also the stage volume is low which the singer likes of course. I have a fill in gig playing California punk/modern rock (Offspring, Blink 182, My Chemical Romance etc etc) and I am seriously thinking of using the mini and a boost pedal.

my 2 cents..yes, you can definitely use the Mini to gig with. Mine is becoming the "moneymaker" for me because we are playing more and more without a drummer.

Most of the time, yes, we mike it up just to make it sound a little bigger out front. I also used it once for "1 set" gig...full PA, seperate mon mixes, just cranked it up in the monitors and it was fine. I really like it through my 2/12 cab, sounds really nice. Granted, it doesnt do the clean that most country pickers would prefer, but the easy loadin/out more than makes up for that

I got it !!! I received my Mini Z yesterday....I played all the day long and LOVE it.... Just one thing it will be very nice if the speaker breakup a little bit later .... because the sound breakup at 9 o'clock, it will be fine if it is possible to have a clean sound until 11 O'clock..... but it is a great amp !!!!

Glad youre digging the little Z! I notice mine stays cleaner/longer when I run it through my 2/12 cab, which has very efficient(loud) speakers in it. I usually run mine up around 1-2 o'clock and turn down at the guitar for a sorta-clean-but-not-really sound Oh...also, a 5751 in the preamp will make it a little cleaner, thats what I have in mine.
