So, I've been very heavy into the blues... but for my latest release, I've decided to return to my actual roots of Joe Satriani, Alex Lifeson and Jeff Beck in order to write and produce a collection of new songs for a new CD I'm working on.
I thought the best way to share this was through You Tube - with a little home made video...
Ya'll let me know what you think - It pays good honor to the mighty Dr. Z.
The new tune is "Flyin' on Thin Ice".
Thanks!

Nice playing, tone, production and song. The video is dsitracting because there seems to be no corellation between the song and the images. I know you're just having fun with it but having that many photos of yourself in a video is a bit too much. You're playing speaks well enough for you.

Yeah, I certainly appreciate all the compliments on the production. It's a milestone. Currently I'm going to Boston University's Center for Digital Imaging Arts www.cdiabu.comand am about 1/2 way through a 2 year course on Audio Production. So I won't give all my trade secrets but there are 6 individual tracks of drums. Each track has been eq'd, some have been gated then eq'd, compressed. Snare/Overheads were bussed for reverb. A separate sub-mix of drums were bussed for additional compression as an effect. Guitar was mic'd with a combination of sm57 / octava mk-012. I'd prefer the combination I use at school and that is a Royer 121 along with a Neumann 184, but for at home, the mk12 / sm57 works well. Guitar was eq'd, compressed, bussed to delay... (I prefer Universal Audio comp's...) Levels automation was hand drawn on many phrases or "points" that I wanted to make with the guitar line. Panning in the bridge section was hand drawn and automation used at the end for delay mix level. Bass was pretty straight forward, eq, comp The bridge arpeggiated section was hand drawn, then the whole mix was put through mastering, eq, comp, dither. I agree that the images are distracting... but it was the only way I could post something of "mine" on face book. But I realized later that the youtube audio quality is also less then great. So, there is a much better audio version with no video on my web-site: www.paulgirolamomusic.com/Music.htmlThanks again everyone!
