Used my red EZ and 4x10 at a big outdoor gig yesterday. We were at the bottom of a large natural ampitheatre/grassy hill.......probably 500+ people, none sitting closer than 40 yards from us.
I had my EZ set with the PRE up @ 3 oClock (for a little grit) and couldn't get the POST above 9 oClock without the sound dude having conniptions....and I wasn't mic'd!
This with a tele and no pedals.
I think the guy was out of his mind.....but even so, it was PLENTY loud and clean.
Love this amp.......but it's not a grinder, on it's own. Luckily, it loves pedals.

I don't know what the deal is with people today. 10 years ago in the Tampa Bay area you needed 50 watts to play a place or you weren't gonna be heard. I would have gave him everything including a middle finger with the first smart arse look on his face.

Played another outdoor last night. Same band, but we ran our own sound.......MUCH better.
Something about this big red Z brings people up to the stage everytime, asking "WHAT is that groovy amp?"
I really don't know how Z did it, but this amp sounds simply huge and loses nothing in a big, open environment.

Played another gig outdoor event tonight. Large amphitheatre, couple hundred folks.
MAN, the EZ and 4x10 is perfect for these gigs. I brought an OD and attenuator, but didn't need either. I was easily able to dial in the "sweet spot" with my tele. I'm really struck by how well Z's open-back 4x10 holds together on big gigs. Really well-balanced and deep.
