I'm soon to take delivery of my Z-verb and was wondering whether you prefer it hooked into the effects loop (if you have one - I'm thinking of my Maz 18nr effects loop) or straight into the front end? I'm not looking for surf type reverb, just a nice ambience. Thanks in advance!

I had mine hooked in the back. It did something to the tone and just wasn't quite right. I put it in front and its perfect.

It's great either way.
If you want to nit pick it, surf-put it in front, ambient-in the loop. One important thing is if you use overdrive pedals and the Zverb is in front, things get a little strange. You'll be OD'ing the Verb unit.
Experiment, you'll find it.

Not true if the reverb is the first in to the amp. Now if it was before the OD then yes. With mine in the back I suffered tone loss volume loss and the high end broke up really harsh. It was awful and I thought something was wrong with my amp. But putting the verb in front solved it.

For what it is worth , Fender has recommended connecting its tanks in front of the amp.

I've got it going into the front and I'm loving it! Guitar>Pedalboard>Zverb>Maz18nr Sounds superb, no problem with overdrive, it does raise the verb level a touch but it's such a lovely sounding verb I rather like that!

Are you telling me that the Z-verb does not work well in the loop? Are the Maz and Stangray loops different? I was thinking crazy maybe a Stangray + Zverb instead of a EZG, but if this is true. That won't work.

That won't work. I lose tone and a bit of volume in the loop. I have an axxess buffer I was thinking of trying connected to in between the zverb and the loop to see if it would solve it but I haven't been motivated to do so as it sounds perfectly fine in front.

How about with a tape echo? Echo>Verb>Amp??? Or how?

Sorry to "buck the trend" here, I tried mine in the front of the MAZ38NR and I thought it sounded noisy and thin, compared to the good sound produced through the effects loop. For me, it's the loop every time!

I must try the loop again sometime. I tend to get stuck in a rut and not change things. Always good to try different settings etc.

It would appear by the location of the in and out jacks Dr intended it mostly through the back. Works great that way through my ray.

I'm a Harp player that uses a moded 59 Bassman circuit amp, so I have no option of an effects loop. I use this Z-Verb through the front end and it sounds incredible!
