I've heard of people removing 2 tubes from a 100watt Marshall Head to turn it into a 50 watt head. Can this be done with the Mazerati and turn it into an 18watt? I'm not sure and don't wanna blow up the amp. Mine is a 2003. Serial number is N 9108 - 2x10 combo. Don't know if that's relevant but i figured that i'd add it just in case. I know that there was some changes in 2003. thanks a million

I don't think so, but maybe someone else could chime in here. I just got an airbrake, and I love it. I find that it's a bit "squashed" and "buzzy" @ high volumes and set on bedroom. With that said, for stage volume it's another beast all together. Even on setting 4, my Mazerati just sounds great at all volumes, big drop in volume, but maintains most of the clarity, punch, and harmonics.
I suggest to get an Air Brake lite, same results, for less money and no bedroom setting. Another thing to do is to get an less efficient speaker, like a Weber Silver Bell, one for sell right now in the Buy Sell Trade section of this forum, $80 or so. Can't vouch for the tone of that speaker, or if you'd like it.
Fat Sound guitars has AB lites in stock for $169 or so. I think the Mazerati acts differently with the AB than my other amps, SRZ-65, and a cheap Blackheart. The el84 amps seem to keep their character better, or something. I'm no expert. Your ears are different than mine.
Also a tube swap could get some earlier breakup from the rati. Like GT #4's

to answer your question, no you cannot remove 2 tubes in a cathode biased amp...aside from that, foxx has some good suggestions above.
