I saw on the Fatsound website that the Mazerati GT is due into their shop in a couple of weeks. I've been interested in that amp since I heard samples of it from the Z Fest. Can't wait to try one out.

Hey teleman, telemanic here, Yeah you'll dig it a lot!! I got to play it at the fest and while i would like all of em, this amp just totally turned my head around! Exactly what i like, .... 2 knobs!! and amazingly open harmonic gain. The production version is the lower gained of the two we tried, and i think it was the clear winner. Plenty o gain, but not too much ya know. Just more than most of the non master Z's. The coolest for me tho is the fact that it stays articulate and punchy up loud on stage, where so many EL84 designs go kinda mushy and start to cave in too much. Kind of raw sounding with just the right amount of looseness. So many "boutique" amps are just too tight and refined for me, and the sound seems to get smaller when ya turn up, where the GT just sorta blooms and expands, .... very open, ..... perfect IMHO

Hey, forgive me for piggybacking onto this thread, but I heard someone describe the sound of the GT as being like the early VH sound. Would this accurately describe the amount of gain on tap with this amp?

This is one I can't wait to hear. I really like the sound of the "too gainy" prototype on YouTube; I'm curious to hear what the production model will sound like.
Will discussion of the Mazerati GT take place in this Mazerati forum, or will there be a new forum/folder for the Mazerati GT?

There could be a separate section for the GT once the amp has been out a little bit and people have gotten to play it for a while. Since these two amps are so different from one another, that wouldn't suprise me. I just got on the waiting list for one.

Hey Mattman, sorry i was out for a few days here but as for the early VH sound, i suppose so! Ya know tho, so much of eddies sound was/is built around his technique and, well, ... some fairly heavy effecting, deeeeeep reverb, flange or phase and probably a few studio touches. I have never heard his old marshall completely dry, but i'm sure it sounded amazing! I could say that the GT definitely has some Marshally qualities tho and have no dout that in the right hands someone could get a VERY convincing VH thing goin on! It is an el84 amp so it may not quite have the "thump" of the bigger bottles, but i dont think Eddie really relied on that aspect anyway, his sound always seems more liquid, smooth and compressed than a big wack ya in the face chunk thing. It is as STU say's on the fat sound site, one of the best sounding amps ive ever played. Sounds like i'll have mine in a few days!! Wooo-hoooo!! Yeah!
