I have had the Maz for a few years and finally decided to change the tubes. Ordered the correct numbers and installed. I have never changed tubes before.
When I turn on the amp ... and take it off standby I get huge distortion and rumble until I turn it back on standby and then on again ... .then the sound goes away and operates normally.
Again I am a complete Tube newbie. What did I do wrong?

Hey nice to have ya here! You probably did nothing wrong. First if ya havent solved this already make sure you take eack tube out and re-seat it maybe a few times. The contacts could have gotten a little bad. Perhaps try some de-oxit on the pins. Next where did you get the tubes? If there from a reliable dealer and GT's then you probably just have a bad tube that snuck thru. Try contacting the dealer or GT themselves and i'd bet they just replace them. You may try to take your known working old tubes and one at a time swap in the new ones to isolate an offending tube. Good luck!
