For various reasons I haven't played through my RxJr in about a month.
So today I go to play it and ...nothing. The last time I played it it was fine. But today... nada.
I tried three different wall plugs and two guitars. No sound.
Don't know the names of the tube positions but as I look at the back of the amp the two right most tubes will glow a weak orange but never get any brighter. No other tubes glow.
Maybe Jr is not happy with me for not playing it in a while.
I'm really puzzled.
I am basically a noob on electric guitars and amps. Don't know any of the tech stuff. I guess I'm a "plug n play" person.
If anyone has an idea about what is going on with the amp I sure would appreciate hearing from you.
Thanks!

Hey tennjed - welcome to the forum. Sorry 'bout the issue there. I hate when those happen because I'm the same as you - not real deep into the technical end of the electronics. But, you didn't mention anything about the speaker cabinet. Did you make sure it was securely plugged in? I've had that happen more than once that's why I ask. How old is the amp, or how old are the power amp tubes and the pre amp tubes? If it was the rectifier tube I believe you wouldn't be getting any glow at all. Also, are you going straight into the amp with the guitar and not thru a pedalboard? Anyway, those are some things to try to look at, or some things that will get asked by th experts here soon enough. I'm sure it's something simple. Good luck. "a" Z Steve

Thanks, RO
The cabinet is securely plugged in and the cable has been swapped. Bluzman suggested checking the fuses and they are ok.
The guitar is going straight and no pedals or pedalboard in use.
The amp I purchased in May, 2008. It has had light home use since then. No tubes have been replaced so I assume these are the original tubes. It was purchased from stock on the dealer's floor. It may have been on the dealer's floor a month or two but I'm very uncertain about that.
There is a dim glow from the two right most tubes (when looking at the amp from the back). None of the other tubes have even a hint of a glow. It's like no power is getting to them at all.

How did you check the fuses? If you just looked at them, use meter to make sure there is continuity.

Thanks, kruzty,
You're right. I did just look at them.
Will have to pick up a meter. Is there a specific value to look for? Or is it just to check that current is flowing through the fuse?

You can do it one of two ways.
Set your meter to "ohms" (resistance), and check the fuse- the meter would ideally read 0 Ohms but since the meter's leads have some resistance themselves you will usually read something like .3 ohms (if it's a digital meter). If you get "infinity" it's blown. Some meters show "infinity" in different ways.
On the analog meters you can "zero" the meter and account for this.
If your meter has a continuity function, you can use that and the meter will beep if the circuit is complete. Check first by just touching the leads together... you should get a tone. Then test the fuse.
