I have tried the Vintage 30, Emenence Wizard, and Gouvenor in this amp and I still am not happy. Seems boxy sounding and not open enough. Any suggestions on a good speaker? I am afraid the G12-H might blow. I have the 1X12 cab model. Thanks for any knoweldgeable opinions.

I think that the Mazerati would really like an Alnico speaker. I never got to try that while I had mine, but I think that the Celestion Alnico Gold that is coming out later this summer would be almost ideal. There are some great Weber Alnico speakers that would do the trick though.

Like Benttop I think an alnico is perfect for the Mazerati. I use a Z-Best with two blues; but in a 1x12 cab, a Tone Tubby alnico is awful nice. The Red Fang isn't far behind. I'm also anxiously awaiting the Gold alnico.

Hated the stock V30. Tried an Eminence Red Fang (alnico) and it sounded great, but it blew. Next I ran an Eminence Tonker for a while (ceramic) and it sounded huge, almost too big. Right now I'm running a ceramic Weber Blue Dog and it's sounding great. Would love to try the Alnico Blue Dog someday.

Ig, have you tried an eminence legend? I have used them and I think they sound great, and cost effective too>>> I have a Tonker in my MAZ38, and it does sometimes sound too big, I think because I have not adjusted my volume correctly.....I had some one else play while i walked back and when you get 25 feet or so back the Tonker just slaps you in the face,,,,,so with a few adjusments on the amp....now its BIG and SMOOTH....if you want that....or it can be really in your face as well..

Yep, gotta ditto the Emi Legend 121. I have one in a 1-12 closed back and its very open sounding. Nicely balanced, and pretty loud. It is essentially a tonker, only a little less in your face, and a little less loud. The Swamp thang and tonker are both tweaked versions of the 121. Its probably my favorite speaker of all, no honky or harsh mids, but it can still bark like a celestion when you slam it.

Haven't tried the Legend. Right now I'm liking the Blue Dog quite a bit, but I'll keep the Legend in mind. As for the Tonker, the thing was so damn efficient and loud that I could barely crack the volume on my Mazerati in some clubs. It was almost choking back the amp in a way. Good sounding speaker though for certain things.

I use a singel Alnico Weber Blue Dog rated at 50 watts. Sounds great. I have not tried any other combo but cannot compare. I would assume going through a 2x12 might be the best, but I am kind of "attenuating" the amp by only running it through one speaker.
I would someday like to either get the Z-28 or Route-66. Am I gonna get more overdrive from those two amps compare to Mazarati?
