Dude, please get one. I want to live vicariously through you....LOL
Seriously, I'm always thinking about saving up for another Z for some more tonal color options, and the Mazerati always is on top of the list.
You thinking head or combo?
You could get a combo with some nice Weber alnicos...LOL (JUST KIDDING!)
I bet the Mazerati throught that Tonker of yours would be pretty d@mn happenin'.... JC

I'm pretty amazed at the punch this thing has. I typically run my Flexi-50 with its Hot Plate set at -4db and the master volume between 3 o'clock and wide open, so it is getting quite loud. I figured I'd have to run the Mazerati wide open to keep up - no chance! Ran the Airbrake right at -4db all night, so owing to the Flexi's master volume, there might be a couple db difference betweeen the two amps. And the Mazerati has considerably more dynamics - the Flexi is much more compressed. I had to watch how hard I picked 'cause I could slice bread with the Mazerati! All that said, I'm not sure it is quite the same as a Ghia. YMMV.

I had a mazerati for a while and then traded it in for the maz 38. The reason was I needed more tone shaping capability than I could get out of the mazerati. There were 3 more reasons that I traded the mazerati off, 1) I needed more clean headroom, which I get with the maz 38, 2) I couldn't really tame the high glassy treble, 3) I wanted reverb. I didn't see these as faults with the mazerati, just didn't meet my needs. I actually thought the mazerati was a great amp for certain things. It sounded fabulous for the Tele bridge pickup sounds, but I couldn't switch to my neck humbucking because then the neck pickup would have way too much bass. I liked the way the amp broke up early. It really reminded me of 1940s Gibson amps, only louder of course. The breakup was really sweet with lots of overtones. But for me to play a solo on something like Moonlight In Vermont, at usable club volume, I don't want that sound, I want clean. To sum up, I thought the mazerati excels at Tele twangin' and blues that has ditortion, if you can handle the switching pickup issues that I mentioned earlier. It's a very rootsy sounding amp. If the mazerati had a cut control, like the new ??ray does I might have been able to get along with it better.

I bought my Mazerati more or less on a whim after selling my Rx. I knew I was going to head/cab rigs from now on (the Rx and road case clocked in at 100 lbs...screw that!) but I also wanted a "gig-friendly" amp with no-brainer controls after being spoiled on a Ghia (check), plenty of power (check) EL84's (check) and resale-ability (BIG check!) in case it just wasn't "me". It's turned out to be a great find. More than enough juice for loud, outdoor gigs...really the only times I use it, opting for the Z-28 for everything else...and simplicity. We rarely get the luxury of a decent soundcheck, so I needed an amp that I know will sound consistent from venue to venue without a lot of tweaking and farting around. True plug n' play. I've thought many times about selling it to get a Maz Sr head, but I just can't part with it for those reasons mentioned.

I have a Mazerati 1x12 combo. It makes the most gorgeous clean Tele tone I've ever heard. Fat, round sparkly, chewy. It's almost like one big giant acoustic instrument. It's also good for the on-the edge low gain sounds (I run the amp clean and use a pedal for this). What it's not good at, at least for me, is a higher gain rock tone (again, with a pedal). It could be that I haven't found the right pedal yet, and it could be that the Mazerati is voiced in such a way that it doesn't lend itself well to this kind of tone. But if you're after nice cleans, I haven't heard many amps that are nicer. To answer your original question, I'm amazed at how loud this amp is and how well it cuts for 32 watts (I think Dr. Z's specs were a misprint and it was actually supposed to be 132 watts ). The other night we played a club with house sound and the soundman told me that my amp was louder than a guy's Mesa Recto (or Rectum or whatever they're called) who was there the weekend before us, and I had the thing below 10:00!

You know you want it. I mean, I'm holding my Strat right now and it's plugged into my Mazerati. Don't you wish you were plugged into one right now? Clean, punchy, great headroom, sustained clean chords with chimy angelic tones. I had no life before my Mazerati. I did not know the meaning of tone. I did not understand the word dynamic. I was living under a rock. My Mazerati is becoming an extension of my being. I often hug it when done playing. Well, I'm never done playing, but I have to sleep and work and eat. My boss hears about my Dr Z amp more than the rest of my family. Yeah, it's that good. You know you need a Mazerati. So you should get it Maybe I should get outside more, but damn that's one fine amp.

My Mazerati and 1x12 cab is super dee duper!
It's plenty loud. Mine stays clean a long time and then grows hair on the notes. I push mine into high gain with my HAO Rust Booster.
I'm a Strat player, so I'll agree that the bridge pickup gives some pretty bright sounding highs---however, I solved that by backing off my guitar tone knob to 6-7 and now the highs are rounded off.
This amp is really nice!
