Hi, guys.
New guy here.
I must say the EZG's got my attention. However, I'm a bit concerned with it beeing a 50w amp.
Do any of you guys get good results using it at home with low/moderate volume?
I guess I would use my timmy or my dirty little secret in this setting for gainer stuff.
Kind regards, Richard

run it through an airbrake and it quiets it down a bit without taking away tone

Richard,
Welcome to forum! I run mine at home with an Airbrake and sometimes a pedal or two with great results. If your on the fence this is one great amp ;D

Great amp... but it is loud. If you want it real quiet, the tone does suffer a tiny bit. Maybe a 6V6 amp would be better if you just want a home player. I'm looking at a Z-28 too.

Dude, only you can decide if 50 watts is to loud for home use.
We have hundreds of hours jamming 5, 12, 15, 22, 35, 50 and 100 watt amps at my buddies house. It has become well respected and understood that when the music starts rest of the house just better find some place to go, because the family room is the jam room and my buddy doesn't give two shitz what his wife has to say about it.
I will say he is respectable to make sure he/we don't get loud before noon or after 8pm.

"Depends" is a pretty good answer. When I was 15 I did not think my JMP 50 or my Univox 110 was too loud for home use. Now I think my Maz Jr is too loud for home use. The EZG does sound mighty fine though.

All Z's have various things that Doc does at the input circuit of the amp to get the maximum signal from the guitar cord, whether it's an EF86 or other little circuit designs. This makes Z amps sound and feel really good at low volumes as well as high volumes. You're not gonna get tube breakup with the EZG at really low volumes (or even moderate ones ) without an Airbrake, but the cleans are really good. Having said that, especially for a Strat I think the MAZ 18 NR is even better at lower volumes. That's the one I use when the wife's home. The EZG is just loud enough through the matching Z 4x10 that it bothers her. On my Youtube page www.youtube.com/user/pweiskittel there's a video of me playing my MAZ Jr Nr that was video taped very early in the morning by my four year old while everyone else was in bed. Sounds pretty good to me

I use mine in my condo and I think it sounds great at low volumes. If you set the pre and post just a tiny bit before the :45 after the hour mark it sounds great for home use. My neighbors have not complained.

OK. Thanks for the replies.
I just pulled the trigger on a Maz jr. for the time being, but I will definitely check out the EZG again later on.
I guess that's part of the Z syndrome, huh? ;D
BTW: Phil, that was amazing!

Hi, guys. The Maz18jr. is an amazing amp. However both the EZG and the Maz have mastervolums - give it a try in any other setting than dimed and you're moving in the right directon ;D JanLF

Now that Dr. Z has ventured into the world of blackface, perhaps there are enough of us who would be a buyer of this amp in 6V6 form with built in attenuation or ¼ power switch to justify bringing one to production. Hint, hint!!!!
I’m in, what say you?
