Hey Doc,
Is there a reason why you went with the permanently attached power cords on the Mazerati (or other models) as opposed to the detachable power cords like on my Z-28 & Carmen Ghia?
The power cord is plenty long, which is a good thing. I was just wondering if there was a reason as the permanently attached power cable.
Thanks a bunch.

Bump,
I'm kinda wondering the same thing.
Is it possible to switch the power chord out, for one that is detachable??

Bump, I'm kinda wondering the same thing. Is it possible to switch the power chord out, for one that is detachable?? Yes, but its a big undertaking. You have to punch a hole in the chassis and install an plug (I think its called an IEC plug) attached to the AC supply. Then you can plug in a standard computer type cord in. I did it once on a pro junior.

Maybe Mike just got a great deal on a huge box of cords? I thought the same thing about the Maz Jr. I would rather have the plug but appreciate the affordable prices for such quality workmanship. A good plug would cost a few bucks and add a minute or three to the assembly time. Punching a plug hole versus drilling a cord hole probably adds a bit to the chassis cost too. Ah, the thousand questions I think of while waiting for my Jr head to arrive...

The MAZ chassis was initially designed to be a COMBO amp, and as such the fixed power cord attached to the cab's side wall is better then a removable IEC cord.
Now on the other hand the Ghia/RT 66/Z-28/KT-45/D-88 were designed to be HEADS primarily and a detachable IEC cord is perfect in this application.
But with all the new Electrical safety codes all my new amps Combos/Heads will have the detachable ( Trip Cord ) IEC cord.

Doc,
Is this a fairly inexpensive mod? or is there a lot of work involved in tapping the chassis to install a C14 type reciever plug?
Thanks

Doc, Is this a fairly inexpensive mod? or is there a lot of work involved in tapping the chassis to install a C14 type reciever plug? Thanks I would say. Cutting a 1 inch rectangle in the chassis rear as well as the panel, if it's a combo cut and trim upper kick panel. Mount IEC connector then internally wire it. Never like to cut or drill into a chassis that has already been built as an amp, too many metal clippings to account for. DR.Z

I am guessing that would void the warranty?

Hmm, my Ghia head has both a permanently attached power cord and the IEC socket. Is this typical for Ghia heads? I'm considering getting Evidence Audio's "the Source" power cord. Anyone have experience with these?
