I just picked up a Mazerati, which makes me very happy, and am looking for the right cab. I'm leaning towards a 4x10 (if I can mount a brake lite in it), but am not sure if I'll get enough bass response. I'm going to try to stay away from closed back designs, for the brake lite's sake. I was just wondering what combinations you guys prefer. Thanks!

I loved the Tone Tubby Alnico with my Ghia, more than enough power to handle the Maz. That would be where I would start with a 1x12. For a 2x12, it would be Blues or a G12H and a Blue.

I'm running mine through a Dr. Z 4 x 10 and it sounds fantastic. You'll be fine on bass response as long as you're sitting the cab on the ground and not standing it or anything. Although it is a tad more mid rangy come to think of it. But as a result it's punchy as all get out.

A Dr Z 2x12 open back with Celestion Blues would be the ideal cabinet for country work.

Thanks guys. I played my mazerati this morning through the 2 Blues in my Maz 38 combo and to me it sounded great. I did get a complaint from the sound guy that it was a little trebly, almost piercing at times. So here's what I'm thinking... I think I'm going to go with a Z 2x12 openback w/ a V30 and a G12H. Hopefully that'll work. Thanks again for your help...I love this forum!

Just ordered a 2x12 open back from Humbucker Music. They talked to Brent and were able to get it matched perfectly to my head. Can't wait!

Are those 2 blues well broken in? This gets talked about a lot and more and more I'm finding it to be true...it takes some speakers a LONG time to get fully broke in...I've had my gold since late last year and gig almost every weekend at pretty loud volumes with a rati...I thought it was as smooth as it was gonna get but I'll be darned in the last 2 weeks it has gotten even sweeter sounding.

Well my cab just got delivered here to my office...I went with a Z 2x12 Open Back w/ a V30 and a G12H. The guys at Humbucker Music and Brent were able to match it perfectly to my head, so cheers to them! It sure looks pretty. It's tough being at work right now... Here's the matching head...

Just an update...I've played a few times with new set up, and I must say it's sounding very very nice. I think I'm going to try to break in the speakers a little this weekend by running my Old Skool Rap playlist through it for a few hours . I was a little timid about the v30/g12h combination in an openback, but it's working out great. In the next couple of weeks, we'll be moving to an in ear setup at church, so I'm sure I'll get hypercritical then. Could it be I'm finally satisfied...or is this just the quiet before the storm!

I'll bet those speakers sound good. You know, the V30/G12H30 combination is just one of the secrets why the ZBest cab sounds so incredible.
