Went to the local shop to pick up tubes to replace some bad stock ones in the AC30CC. Called ahead to make sure he had them and I get there and he has a RX ES sitting on top of a Z 1X12. I had to play it. Loved it and bought it.
As my wife's shock wears off I'll probably start a search for a 2X12. The RX ES is a big head and looks awkward sitting on that small cab, to me anyway.
Sounds gorgeous and has clean for days with that nice chimey sound, but very little time dialing it in. Takes pedals MUCH better than the AC30CC also.
The AC30CC sounded great clean and cranked, but I don't have the time for mods and hate fiddling with controls to dial in all the time. I would have had to replace my whole pedal board too.
I'm happy.

Congrats!! You will love it. I love my RXES and will never sell it. Post up some pics of it in the pics section. Also make sure to get an airbrake if you ever plan to turn it up past 2 on the volume.

Wow. I played my new RXES at Church for the first time this morning and had the Brake Lite on either 2 or 3. I can't even put into words how much better the RXES takes pedals. Phenominal. I have an EH Echo 1 delay that I never realized had such a sweet sound. It was unusable with any previous amp I'd owned. I had 6 or 7 people come up to me after Church saying things like, "First time I've really heard you" or the sound guy said this morning during rehersal, "What's different? That's such a sweet sound." One guy came up to me after Church and said, "You were all over that guitar this morning. It sounded so good."
This set up is a keeper. I'm so happy. I can hear solos mixing in so nicely yet I can hear where I am. I'm actually playing with the knobs on the pedals now to dial in sounds because I can actually tell that it makes a difference. Yet every knob on the RXES was at noon and stayed there. My younger brother sings lead and plays rhythm but we have another guy that stands next to me playing rhythm too. He's not the hippest guy in the world LOL! but he made the comment during rehersal that he could stand there and just listen to that sound all day. Really made me feel good.
On some songs I play completely clean and pluck pick the strings. I didn't want to stop, such a rich warm tone with a beautiful high end without ice pick.
For the first time in 31 yrs of playing I know what you guys mean by softly picking clean and digging in for some grit. My noisy BOSS Cs-3 will come off the my pedal board all together, not needed with this amp. It has such beautiful natural sustain on it's own. I've never been a fan of reverb and found myself having to use it on previous amps because they sounded so dry. Don't need or miss it on the RXES.
I could go on boring you but I CAN'T wait 'til our summer un mic'd parking lot tour starts this year so I can crank this thing a bit more. I've been thru at least 15 amps in less than a year with no honeymoon period for any of them and 12 of them didn't make it thru the 30 day return policy.
No substitute for quality.

Writes: "My noisy BOSS Cs-3 will come off the my pedal board all together, not needed with this amp."
It is noisy. But I do want to use it with my RXES with the Sustain at Max for giant, thunky, squashed sound on super-clean settings. It's just killer for chicken' picken. So yesterday I ordered the Monte Allum Opto Mod kit for it. Maybe I will then add a sound suppressor to the chain too...what I am getting at is that the ES takes pedals so well I am not going to let one inherently noisy one make me give up the cause.

I actually picked up a Route 66 for dirt and it is also a comp pedal on the other side. Quiet and I love it.

+ 1 on the Route 66. I picked one up for a friend of mine, and it really is quiet. If I didn't have a Keeley and a Zendrive, I probably woulda kept it for myself!!
