My local shop is bringing in a RXJr head that I will most likely end up picking up, based on the countless feedback I have read hear. I am wondering if using the AirBrake is even needed on this amp since the volume control is pretty much an attenuator circuit isn't it? Does the Brake have any place with the RXJr? Anyone using it?

You won't really need an attenuator with the RX Jr. The master on that amp is amazing.

I'm somewhat conflicted about my RX Jr - I don't really use it very much, but when I think of switching it for something else I start to panic. The RX Jr being 15 watts and having that wonderful Master volume control is one of the most flexible and home-friendly amps I've ever owned. I guess my problem is I have way too many toys to play with and not really enough time to play with them all.

I would say no, but there are some tones in there that you get when you max the master and slowly roll up the volume nob untill it starts to break up. Then you step on the boost. That sound I can not get with the master down low.

Oh No! I just found out they are bringing in a 2X12 open back cab as well, and they are all in RED. Looks like I may be out some money in the very near future.

I'll second that, but add a RxJr through 4 EVH 20watt greenbacks is amazing also. Just a different texture.

Has anyone tried it with a stock Z-Best? I have, and again, it's great. With the Z-Best you get that magnificent bottom and of course the RX Jr has all the beans to fulfill the potential of the Z-Best. We're talking thump like a 4x12 here.

Sense it came up. I'll ask, because I have owned several 2x12 closed back cabs. A couple ported and a couple closed and I did not like a single one of them no matter which speakers were in it.
""""We're talking thump like a 4x12 here.""" For me this has never been an issue with 2x12 close back or ported. They have always had plenty of bass. Infact way to much bass and not a balanced sound. Like there was not enough high end. This is what I love about 4x12 cabs. It's not about the amount of bass that is generated but the balance and how the low end comes into play when asked. I have never met a 2x12 that comes close.
Z-best?

With the V30 on top, you hear the upper mids and top end of that speaker, but feel the bottom from the G12H thanks to the port. Since everyone hears something different, you should try to play through one. Yeah, I think it's very balanced. But I like the bass wound up to max on all of my amps, so it's hard to say if you would like it or not.

The RX landed yesterday at the store and it the cab did come with Blues in it. I'm heading over tonight as long as the snow storm isn't as bad as they are predicting to check it out. I hope I can get out of the store with my wallet in tact!
