I got my Brake Lite in yesterday just in time for band rehearsal last night. I play at a fairly small church in Birmingham, and I can't tell you guys how many times I get that dreaded voice in my ears telling me my amp's too loud. I had pretty much figured out when to expect it. I get my gear set up, tweak my settings, play a few bars to warm up, and just when I'm happy...here it comes. But no more!!! My sound guy could've kissed me when he heard my first note. With the Brake Lite set at 3 and my master at about 1 o'clock, I had thick, power tube-saturated tone, and get this...he asked me to turn up! This thing has literally changed my life. Maybe it is finally possible for guitarists and sound techs to peacefully co-exist...maybe. Cheers!

Well, I haven't tried a Brake Lite yet. But I hardly ever play unattenuated anymore. They allow you to get that output tube distortion without going deaf. Love 'em!

So I'm pretty pumped. I went up to the church last night to fool around and try to tweak some things now that I got the Brake Lite hooked up. I can't believe what a difference having this thing makes. Probably not so much for all you guys that have the privilege of being able to crank your amps, but I just haven't been able to for so long I had forgot what it was like! It has reinvigerated my soul...haha. My full drive and my OCD sound so much sweeter now and I can't wait to hook up the Timmy (it should be in on Monday). If anybody's on the fence about buying this....DO IT!

Using mine last night with the Remedy at roughly 3/4 settings at half power and the resistors were barely warm even.

I haven't read any of the threads about the Brake Lite, but I thought I remembered that it is only for installation in a combo amp. Am I wrong? Can you install it in a head, which is what it sounds like you guys have done in your Remedys?

I will be installing mine into my 1x12 open-back speaker cab. Could probably go inside a head, but the concern is heat. I think that is why bluzman was commenting on the heat of the resistor from his use of it with the Remedy.

I think that is why bluzman was commenting on the heat of the resistor from his use of it with the Remedy. I put a piece of 3/8" plywood on the back. There isn't enough room to properly use it IN a head. While I may have voided the warranty it suits my purposes.

I am thinking about mounting mine on a 1/4" piece of plexiglas with a hanger clip on the back so I can hang it on the outside (think cooler more air flow) of the top back panel of which ever amp I wish.

As cheap as this unit is, I'm thinking I'll eventually have several here. One for each amp!

No you didn't void the warranty, ( what warranty Ha) just remember the Brake-Lite dissipates heat in stead of sound, so make sure it has room to ventilate and radiate . Z

So I just redid it with 5/8" plywood. Now it can sit flat and the cable weight isn't as bad at making it shift.
