Great info. In another thread I was trying to get opinions in choosing an SRZ65, RT66 or a Mazerati GT. I've owned the first 2, and I figure the GT is an EL84 on 'roids.
I also had a KT45. I like the EL34 sound, but the KT was a little cleaner that what I'm looking for.
The SRZ was very aggressive, but maybe a little more "nasty" than what I'm looking for. The RT66 was nice, but I agree about the attack being "soft" (at least for what I'm looking for."
Based on this review, I'm going to check out the Remedy. When someone mentioned "Dickey Betts tone", that's pretty much the tone I'm seeking for soloing.
An RXES for chording and some soloing, kick in the Remedy for a full-out solo assault.
Thanks for the food for thought.

Remember, Dickey plays thru JBL's, that's at least half of THAT equation

stratbrat,
Your assessment of the KT and SRZ are valid- the KT is a *great* clean amp with the potential for crunch at very high volumes, and the SRZ is a great JCM800 crunch machine. However, the Remedy isn't exactly the "middle ground" between the two; it's not an EL34 amp and has its own unique thing going on. I think it's phenomenal; it does cover a lot of "Plexi" ground. I think you're gonna have to try it for yourself and see if it meets your needs.

Wow. This is a sweet amp. I will have to wait for tomorrow to let it breathe more, but what a great balanced sound. Some of the sweetness of the Route 66 without the throatiness, especially at tonight's low volumes. I really liked my Route 66 at lower volumes, too, but the Remedy is a hair-and-a-half faster, without becoming harsh at all.
It's funny that this was what came to mind first.
It's a different amp than the SRZ, which can be gained up from just after the opening turn.

Remember, Dickey plays thru JBL's, that's at least half of THAT equation If you guys want that JBL sound I can highly recommend the Weber VST Neo Mag series. I've got original JBLs but I put one of these in my Allen Brown Sugar and it's da bomb! 10 pounds lighter than a D130 too!

That's very interesting Billy, nice to hear from you too. I've been gassing a quad with 2 greenies and 2 JBL's lately. I hate when I start gassin' for such silly things. But I do love the sound of a quad

But I do love the sound of a quad I'm with you, Taz. I love a good, well-voiced, well-designed quad. I think it's time we talked the Doc into building a 4x12. And perhaps this combination of Greenies and JBLs would be sufficiently enticing to get him to consider it. What do you think?
