Got to try out my newly acquired Mazerati this weekend in the studio.... holy cow, this thing is amazing. Couldn't be happier with the purchase. What a responsive, articulate amp. It does not lie about the player one bit.
I think the best part about it is that it doesn't really sound "like" anything else.
Here's to the good doctor!

Thanks 6strang. It's amazing. The other night I just played with the volume control and touch dynamics for like an hour. I can't get over how responsive it is.
... And my darker side sure likes the growl.....it's mean.

Alright, so last night I got my Zendrive in the mail (good trade Richeray!) and to boot, I also got my Dr. Z 4x10 Cab. I don't think I knew tone before this.
Gibson CS 336 - Zendrive - Mazerati - 4x10. Heaven.
I was experimenting with different OD combinations and stacks and so far I think I'm happiest with the Zen as my kind of go to guy, then the Red Llama clone Eddie made for a different color and a little hairiness. I've got a TS9 that might get booted off the board now - especially with a Box of Rock coming in the mail tomorrow.
Despite the OD's though, the secret is in the amp and cab. What a combo.

I like an RC boost pushing an early FDII > Mazarati for rockin' bluesy tones.
Zen works quite well also as stated.

I'm not much of a compressor guy, but lately this orange squeeze clone I got from Eddie has been opening my ears to new things; especially when paired with the Red Llama.
The Mazerati continues to blow me away. Literally. I'm becoming more convinced that attenuation is my near future. Along with further hearing loss. This thing is a monster.

I absolutely LOVE my Mazerati.
FYI - Zed has the best sounding 'rati combo I've ever heard. I'm sure Phil could second that!

Oh God, you have to get an attenuator. You gotsta get those trannies cookin'! Unless you're playing BIG venues, you need it to keep from going deaf.

Oh God, you have to get an attenuator. You gotsta get those trannies cookin'! Unless you're playing BIG venues, you need it to keep from going deaf. Tell me about it! The Mazerati is my first Z, so when I read about it online, I noticed it comes in at 35 Watts. "Cool" I'm thinking. "My Blue Angel comes in at 38 and functioned at just about perfect volume levels for practice without attenuation." I had a little trouble with clean headroom live, but not too bad. I had it going through a 2x10 with Eminance Speakers in it. I have the Mazerati going through a Dr. Z 4x10 and Holy Cow Poop does it blow the Blue Angel away!! I mean, a little louder is understandable due to the extra speakers.... but even through the 2x10 cab it was just ridiculously louder. It's fantastic live as a result, but I'm killing my band when we rehearse. Thankfully the attenuator I ordered came in the mail yesterday or else I'd have a hard time hearing you right now.
