Strange question...
Thinking about trading my RXES for a Ghia+$. I have 3 Zs, Maz 38, Stangray and Rxes. I feel like I'm not getting everthing I can out the amps because most of the clubs we play the owers would fire us if I cranked up the amp ;D
I do mostly low gain stuff, country, roots etc. I bougt the RXES initially for that Brad Paisley modern country sound.
I could use the ghia and volume knob on the guitar...
What do you guys think?
Thanks!

I am in the exact same position and considering trading my RXES for maybe an RXJR or something else. I will be watching this thread closely. I like the airbrake, but when you have the volume at 8 to get that creamy overdrive it is earsplitting except on the bedroom setting, which kills the tone IMO Thanks & Good Luck Edwin

Go with the RXJr if you want the RXES tone at lower volumes.

I am thinking of getting one, I asked dr. z bout the volume issue he recommended a post PI master volume (like on the jr.) wouldnt this fix the issue? How loud is it, really? with the airbrake? I play bars, but im playing next to garage/punk style bands. to get it on 8 with the airbrake not on bedroom would it over power the drums (unmic'ed?) I am scared that a jr wont cut it for that rock "furry" sound that i need live. Is it way louder then a ac30cc2 just between 1/4 and 1/2 volume?

I just got a RxJr. ;D I first heard the RxES at Willcutt's when it first came out. It blew me away but it was too loud for my applications.
I heard the RxJr prototype at the first Z-Fest and loved it. A few other amps (Mazerati GT, EZG, KT45) came along and I never did get to buy that Jr.
Last week I finally got Jr. and I'll just say this: it is indeed just like the ES but quieter. I highly recommend Jr to anyone who loves the ES (don't we all?) but want lower volume.
It's so good I'm *this* close to declaring it my #1 amp, bumping my faithful MAZ 18 NR that's got thousands of hours on it as my "go-to" Strat amp. That's like SRV saying another Strat bumped "#1" to "#2" status.

A Stang Ray, Maz and Ghia would be a pretty hot setup.

Now see I've got just the opposite problem I bought the JR first to go alongside my Ghia because I was worried about the volume level but now I wished I would have got the ES first to use with my Ray

Well I got the JR first and now I want the ES. I knew I wanted it to put along side the Ray and that was to be my high power setup. The Ghia and JR was to be the low power rig and happened into a Maz JR I couldn't pass up so the ES took a back seat for awhile but now I need one.

My 1st Z was a non-ES RX. Loved that amp & ran it with an Airbrake but it was still too LOUD for me. I actually got a Ghia & sold the RX shortly after. A little different sound but I can seem to get similar tones since the non-ES was all 12AX7's in the frontend unlike the ES.
