Hey guys, I just joined the forum and am only a couple weeks away from getting my RXES head and i can't wait ;D. I've had been using a mesa boogie lonestar special for awhile but got tired of dealing with all the knobs (plus i had one die on me) and had heard lots of buzz about how good Z amps were. I've been looking for an amp to stack up against my Marshall JTM 45 RI and Fender Twin Reverb RI! I'm sure i'll need a DR. Z sticker to slap on top of the mesa boogie one on my road cases ! lol

I'm pretty sure you'll like the RXES - it's a major piece of work. You may want to consider an attenuator like the Airbrake though - you can get to so much more of the amp's possibilities with an Airbrake attached. You'll see what I mean when you get the amp. So what speakers are you planning to drive with it?

Yeah i thought about the airbrake. Probably get it as soon as a get a few more overtime checks in the bank. I went the with the 2X10 cab. I wanted to try'em out since i've only had used 12s (all celestions, with the exception of my peavey amps). I haven't read anywhere with someone trying out a RXES with the 2X10 cab. I really can't wait to hear through my 4X12 Marshall 1960AX!!!

It has such a wide range of tone that you can dial it in with almost everything. I haven't heard it through the 10's, but I'm sitting here thinking that would probably rock my world.

I don't doubt one bit how good it'll sound. I had tried a Maz Jr nr before i ordered the RXES. Hard to believe there's only 3 dealers here in Texas. I just need a way to hook the RXES, the twin and the Marshall all up at the same time!!!! Betcha the neighbors would love that!!!

Definitely get an Airbrake, you'll be glad you did. It opens up all of the versatility of the amp IMO. I actually test drove a RXES with a 4x10 Z cab. Sounded great! Very light and airy. It doesn't have as much midrange as a cab with 12s, but it is a great sound!

The RXES is amazing!! I love it. I used to play it through a stock Marshall 1960A 4x12. Let me tell you it was the best tone i have ever heard, but now i have the Z Best 2x12 and it sounds just as good and is easier to transport. haha. You will enjoy it for sure

It sounds great through a Z 2-10 cabinet. I bought a Rt 66 that came with a 2-10 cab as part of the deal. I wasn't sure the 2-10 was something I wanted. But once I tried it, I really liked it. I had used it with the RT66, Maz38, Stang Ray and RXES. It sounded great with all of them. Plus, it was small and light, great for gigging!
