Anyone know what solid state rectifier the Doc uses in the KT45? I ask because I have a KT showing up this week(used) that presently has a tube rectifier in it. After reading one of Phil's posts on the subject I know I would like to try the solid state rectifier before I pass any judgements.
Thanks in advance for any info on this subject.

I believe the KT's with SS rectifiers have several diodes built into the circuit. I don't think Doc uses plug-in SS rectifiers in the KT's.....which isn't to say you couldn't try one in place on the tube rectifier.
Mine has a JJ GZ34.
Honestly, I thought I was going to want SS rectification, but FWIW, with a tube rectifier it still hits REALLY hard. Very little sag. in a good way.
I believe Myles recommends using a GT SS plug-in rectifier, I know that Sovtek makes one as well. I have not tried either.
If Myles, doesn't chime in, I would PM him. He is a great resource for these type of questions.
Also, if you do go with a SS rectifier, you might considering re-biasing.
After having mine for about 4 months, I still am more than happy with the tube rectifier.

Sure thing, I think you will find the KT is extremely addictive!
