any and all;
1st, thanks to Dr.Z and his amps. I've been looking for this sound literally for years. I prefer amps with tons of clean headroom, and the z's have it.
Up front, I'm completely ignorant when it comes to discussing tubes, wiring, etc. etc. - I just care about the sound...Now for my question...I've noticed that on my amp, not all the tubes "run" at the same temp, color, brightness etc.
The 4 12AX7's are the prime example..The first two are hot, bright, and orange. the next two are very dim, cool, and white when runnin'. The EL84 runs about the same temp, color, etc. I have no microphonic feedback, no hum or hiss...
The amp was built on 7/18/05, and has been used around 25 times since buying it in aug. or sep.
So - is this normal, or should i order some new tubes?
by the way, Doc, Rodney Crowell was at Rock Block here last week pickin' out a new MAZ18jr...guess he likes that Paisley sound....
thanks to any and all. KingB

Some tubes run hotter than others.
Some tubes have encased heaters such as 12AX7LPS so they may not appear to light as brightly. This is quite normal.
Reverb drivers when AT7's can run quite warm.
