Morning guys and gals, I have a 2 x12 Stang ray combo, live in an apt. so need the airbrake , I can use it with this amp correct, you don;t have to have a separate speaker cab to use the Air brake do you? I would patch the speaker cable from the Airbrake to the 8 omh jack in the rear deck plate, can someone confirm this is correct...with many thanks

Sure, you can use it with the Stang Ray. You'll find that if you turn the Airbrake so the speaker output is towards the rear, there's probably enough slack in the speaker cable to reach up to the Airbrake. Then all you need is one more cable from the output of the amp to the input of the Airbrake. If it turns out that there's not enough slack, you just need a special speaker extension cord with plug on one end and jack on the other. But I don't need that with my Maz Jr if I want to run the Airbrake. The cord on the speaker has enough length to reach.

Oh that explains it , thanks so much, I had pre ordered the air brake and didn;t want to have to tell the store I can't use it, may I ask you one more question when you bought your Z, were you given warranty cards, paperwork etc ? Or do you register on the website?? I was not given anything...suspicious..Many thanks

Or do you register on the website?? I was not given anything...suspicious..Many thanks Valid questions. I'll start the answers. Firstly - if you have a failure caused by a "factory defect" (bit of an oxymoron with true hand-wired amps) I doubt that Dr. Z would hesitate to correct it without charge other than shipping. Who/where is your dealer? If it is Long & McQuade, they are the only dealer in Canada, and if yours is anything like mine, it's "no questions asked" for at least a year on Dr. Z gear. Thirdly, no I received no warranty card nor online registration instructions. Basically, if your amp is going to "fail" it will likely do so in the first month or two, after which only tubes will fail for years to come. On head+cab never power on the amp with no load;i.e., with no speaker attached. This can cook a transformer, and you would be liable for the repair, parts & labour. Same applies if you are connecting/disconnecting an Air Brake and forget to have a load. I suggest that you post these questions in the Z-Lounge, and/or Stang Ray sections. BTW, you are in for a real treat after speaker break-in. Fasten your seatbelt. ;D

Hey a big shout out to my fellow Canuck in B.C. Hope all is well out west. Thanks for your valued input, just to perhaps finish this discussion off, Dr Z holds the postion that their three yr warranty is immediate and any additional warranty bought from the dealer goes into play after their warranty is done. So I bought a two yr from L&M and am getting them to adjust my coverage dates accordingly. so looks like I am covered for 5 yrs which hey with travelling sounds good, Gotta protect are musical magical Z's...cheers all
