Hi There
I am a newb here, but have recently sold off a Maz 18 Jr. and am REALLY stoked about the EZG-50 right now. I have read a ton about it in this forum. Thanks to everyone's insight. Great stuff in here. It seems like most peeps here are playing a Strat or Tele through this. Any word on how Humbuckers sound through it. I am thinking about getting the 2x10 cab because I found a good deal on it. Am I going to be bumming in the long run without the 4x10?

I have been running about a half and half mix of humbuckers and single coils through mine since I got it. First of all, I am using a 2x10 convertible cab with mine and I think it sounds great. I went through the same issues over the 4x10. To me it comes down to the fact that the 2x10 is easier to carry to gigs. I really like the 2 10 cab, I think you will like either one.
As for the pickup configurations. The strat sounds great through it. if you are looking for that strat texas blues sound, maybe an overdrive pedal, it is beautiful. I really like the humbuckers too. I was very pleased to hear the Les paul through it. it gave a nice warm clean tone, and did very well with a distortion pedal, much better than I expected. The amp really takes pedals well. I have used my ES 335 with it as well. It makes a great jazzy tone. There are so many good tones in the EZG. I have done a lot of playing with the eq knobs, which work very well as do all of Dr Zs tone knobs. The reverb is very nice as well.
All in all, the humbucker guitars performed great through the EZG. I have been finding it very versitile with either pickup configuration.

i play a mix of single coils and humbuckers through my EZG - tele, LP, and I-35. the humbuckers sound wonderful and the 2x10 cab is a really nice match. sorry to hear that you got rid of the Maz; hopefully you'll decide to keep the EZG. enjoy!

I play a prs custom 22 through my setup & it sounds great.. I want to get a warmoth custom strat next with kinman pickups just so I have the strat sound also. But the humbuckers suit most of my style which is heavy rock to funk/blues! I think any alninco pickup would sound sweet through this amp really..

I'm playing a 335 through mine, and really loving it. It pretty much wants to see that treble knob almost dimed, but that's ok. The tight, but FAT, low end on the EZ is a natural fit. No "fart out" like many BF amps do, as you crank them.
