hey guys, my Rx Jr is the first tube amp and I just got it the other day after ordering it from Eric at Wilcutt in Kentucky, and I've noticed after playing it in my very small room that my room now has a funny oder to it now and i've figured out that it's coming from the amp. Is this normal for a new amp to possibly have a new amp smell? Or is it the smell of the tubes? or possibly the new tolex?
pretty much i just want to make sure that i didn't do something wrong. The amp is working great and i've been giving it about five minutes in standby to warm up before playing it. I've also been sure to put it in stanby before turning it off, but the smell is really kind of annoying in my tiny little room.

It's normal. The mix of hot tubes and new tolex is heavenly. It'll go away eventually and then you'll miss it.

FYI - 5 minutes is more than enough warm-up time. I've seen 30 seconds recommended and 1 or 2 minutes would be plenty.

That Smell is my fav, no contest. I don't want to hear no Free Bird blah blah blah. Gary got the message. Sadly, Allen did not.

I just got done smelling that smell.. oo-ooh that smell!
It's amazing. Is it weird for me to hang out by my amp while it cools off, smelling it?

New scientific research has found that there is a pheromone in the Nubtex used by Dr. Z Amps that produces a cortisol that affects the level of serotonin produced in the brain. In some, this can cause a number of effects, including cravings and tricking your brain and body that you need more, not unlike addiction. Fast food corporations have been using a relative of this compound for years in their products but the molecular make up for foods has an single sodium molecule attached to the hydrogen. The compound used for Dr. Z Amps is known as MSZ.
I chit you not!
