Hey folks. So I've had my RXJr. for around 9 months now and it's friggin great. All tones are good of course, but the overdrive is godly (volume dimed, master about 20%, overdose on, so it's not too loud). BUT, when I plug in my Keeley Blues Driver, it Sucks in comparison to the Dr.'s overdrive. And the Keeley is supposed to be a good pedal...but alas, I am not happy with it anymore. QUESTION: Is there any pedal similar to the blues driver's gain characteristics that can hang with the overdrive tone on the Jr.? Something less than $200...
I may have to change my whole way of playing electric. Cus right now I play clean and apply overdrive via pedal or sometimes overdose. I might have to start using my volume knob a little more with overdrive in the background at all times....who knows. Thanks in advance.

I have a ZVex Box of Rock that can get pretty close. If you can, try one.

.i tried my overdrives in a/b tests with the Jr.'s master and while i found that they sounded good nothing compared to the sound i could get with the master and overdose of the Jr.....the Jr keeps all of the tone from the guitars signal while all the overdrives squashed some portion of tone....

Here's a list of OD's that I've tried with my RX Jr: OCD v2 Zendrive BOR Timmy Barber LTD Keeley Blues Driver MI Audio Blues Pro MI Audio Blue Boy Deluxe Bad Monkey
The one that stayed on the board was the Blue Boy Deluxe, but the Zendrive was a thing of beauty for low to mid gain. But for more openess, the Overdose is incredible with my Strat.

Everyone around here rants about the Zendrive. I have one, but I still don't love it as much as some of my other drives. I'm seeing if time will let me gel with it. It's sort of a flat TS9 in that the mids are a bit less.

I'm finding with my new Zendrive that I still prefer the Blue Boy with my strat, but the Zen sounds much better with my Tele. I'll have to spend some more time dialing it in I guess.

To me the Zendrive works best with little gain dialed in. And I agree it sounds best with a Tele, but also sounds pretty good on the bridge pup of my CS Strat. Forget the neck pups - that's not it's thang.

I'll mess with the bridge more.

i'm new to the forum, and have had my rx jr. for a short time, but i'm using my ts808 and plush drive to 'color' the sound instead of create it. and the rx is very flexible using the volume knob as well.

FD2 is nice for a middy lead tone, but the Box of Rock is the best for rhythm and riffing, very open sounding and amp like, and cleans up great with the volume knob. It's the pedal that gets closest to the sound of my dimed Stangray, but with some footswitchability.
